The New Iberia Senior High Girls Basketball Team will host the Thanksgiving Classic Tournament over the Thanksgiving holiday, an event they hope will become a yearly tradition.

The tournament will feature both local and out-of-town teams, giving everyone a chance to face opposition that they may not otherwise see during the regular season.

According to NISH Assistant Coach Chris Johnson, the teams involved will be Opelousas High School, Central Catholic High School, Westgate High School, St. Martinville Senior High School, Highland Baptist Christian School, Cecilia High School, Lake Charles College Prep, and, of course, NISH.

The Tournament will take place from Monday, November 22 to Wednesday, November 24. Game times will be 2p.m., 3:15 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 5:45 p.m. each day, with a Winner’s Bracket and Consolation Bracket being formed after the first round of games are completed. Each team will play three times over the course of the tournament. The Winner’s Bracket Final will be played at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

In addition to the bracket system, the tournament will also feature a 3-Point Shooting Contest featuring representatives from each team.

All games will be held at New Iberia Senior High School.
