On December 16th, Dozier Elementary leaders and faculty members hosted a Christmas Appreciation luncheon to thank local organizations for donations to the school this past year. The Erath 4th of July Association was one group at the luncheon. What the Dozier Elementary leaders or faculty didn't realize before (or even during) the luncheon, was that the Erath group was there to offer a second donation to the school, which made for a wonderful Christmas surprise.
Last spring the Erath 4th of July Association gave the school $1000 earmarked for technology. Computers were purchased to help a teacher gain upgraded computers. After the luncheon, the Erath group pleasantly surprised Dozier Elementary Principal Karla Toups and Assistant Principal Natalie Hebert with an additional $2000 check to be used for additional technology needs at the school.
Upon returning from the holidays, the technology committee will meet to assess their current "needs list" to purchase new classroom technology equipment. Erath 4th of July Association President Robert Vincent stated the organization wanted to make the donation because the group "knows that the donations are greatly appreciated by everyone at Dozier and that the school will use the money toward technology which will benefit the children of our community."
