A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted for Gralin Timothy Mimms, 67, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at St. Edward Catholic Church, 175 Ambassador W. Lemell Drive in New Iberia. Father Thomas Vien Vu, celebrant. Interment will be private.
Visitation will be observed from 8 a.m. until time of services at Journet and Bolden Funeral Home, 711 S. Corinne Street in New Iberia, with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m.
A native of New Orleans and resident of New Iberia for 13 years, Mr. Mimms departed this life at 5:14 a.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018, at Lafayette General Medical Center surrounded by three generations of family.
Mr. Mimms retired from Oschner Health Center. He was an active member of St. Edward/St. Jude Catholic Church where he enjoyed volunteering at the annual church fair.
He leaves to cherish fond memories of his life three sisters, Mozella Mimms Callier and Marva Mimms Spencer (John) both of New Iberia and Paulette Mimms McIntosh (Rawle) of Carson, California; three sisters-in-law Ruth B. Mimms of Marietta, California, Louise Mimms and Faye Mimms both of New Orleans; one special grand-daughter, Monica Davis of West Point, New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Mimms Sr. and Mozella Griffin Mimms; four brothers Samuel Mimms Jr., Ronald Mimms Sr., Donald Mimms and Kenneth Mimms Sr.
The active pallbearers will be Rawle S. McIntosh II, Eric Green Jr., Lindsey Porter III, Eric Green Sr., Ronald Mimms Jr. and Lindsey Porter Jr.
The honorary pallbearers will be John N. Spencer Sr., Rawle S. McIntosh, Frank Birden, Edward Mimms, Samuel Mimms III, Darryl L. Mimms, Eric Mimms Sr., Kenneth Mimms Jr. Darius Mimms Sr., Michael Davis Sr. and Marlon Lewis.
