LAFAYETTE — Three Iberia Parish men were arrested in Lafayette Tuesday after a traffic stop that resulted in police finding narcotics.

Dentreel Rankins and Dashawn White of New Iberia and Marcus Alexis of Jeanerette were arrested after Lafayette Police Department patrol officers made a traffic stop on I-10 at the I-49 exit because of a traffic violation.

According to the LPD, the stop came at approximately 1 a.m.

A search of the vehicle turned up 24 pints of promethazine (codeine syrup) valued at more than $113,000, the LPD said in a statement.

Rankins, 26, Alexis, 27, and White, 27, were all placed under arrest for the manufacture and distribution of schedule V narcotics.

Rankin also was charged with resisting an officer after he attempted to flee the scene. All three suspects were taken to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for booking.
