Flag Day ceremony in New Iberia

Boy Scout Troop 133 Scoutmaster Jonathan Granger and Troop 133 Scouts officially retire boxes of American flags that were tattered, worn and turned into the troop to be destroyed ceremonially Wednesday evening.

The Iberia Veterans Association, Boy Scout Troop 133 and others attended a patriotic ceremony late Wednesday afternoon at Bouligny Plaza as a boxful of American flags was destroyed on Flag Day. The national observance recognizes the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the U.S. flag bearing white stripes, a field of blue with white stars. Flag Day commemorates the Flag Resolution of 1777.
