Arrest made for fraud; second suspect sought

BREAUX BRIDGE — A Breaux Bridge man was arrested Wednesday on 24 counts of monetary instrument abuse, and the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office is seeking the whereabouts of a second suspect.

According to a prepared statement, deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint regarding an alleged case of fraud perpetrated against an elderly woman on April 9. Investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into the allegations.

Upon completion of the investigation, warrants were obtained to arrest Shane Latiolais, 46, Breaux Bridge, and Dana Debo, 51, Breaux Bridge, for Monetary Instrument Abuse.

Both Latiolais and Debo used the victim’s credit card to purchase several items totaling approximately $1,500 worth of merchandise over a three month period, according to the sheriff’s office.

On Wednesday, Latiolais was arrested by investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office on 24 Counts of monetary instrument abuse.

Following his arrest, he was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.

Investigators are seeking information regarding the whereabouts of the second suspect, Dana Debo. She was last known to be living in the Henderson area of St. Martin Parish.
