New Iberia Senior High School’s Shatoya Linzer put on a show Wednesday night at the Tabasco Relays.
The senior claimed three individual event titles, sweeping her specialties, the 100 meter hurdles (16.58 seconds) and the 300 hurdles (50.21) and added the 100 meter dash for good measure (13.15), and ran a leg on the third-place 4x200 relay team to help the Lady Jackets finish with 100 points in the meet, just behind meet champion Alexandria Senior High (114).
Carencro finished third with 71 points followed by Lafayette Christian (61), St. Martinville (41), Acadiana (38), Lafayette High (34), Cecilia (32), Westgate (27), Comeaux (23) and Breaux Bridge (14).
It was good night all around for the Lady Jackets, who had several top three finishes in individual events.
In the field events, Regine Johnson finished second in the javelin and Madison Sorrel tied for second in the pole vault. On the track, Alaysha Dauphine was second in the 200, Bra’lazjae Butts was second in the 400 and third in the 100 hurdles and the NISH girls finished second in the 4x400 with Aliana Henry, Japerlyn Pitre, Amari Mouton and Butts and third in both the 4x100 (Dauphine, Mouton, Alicia Orphry and Precious Barlow) and 4x200 (Henry, Linzer, Barlow, Dauphine).
St. Martinville’s Jordan Landry had almost as good a night as Linzer, winning the high jump (5 feet, two inches) and the triple jump (38-2) and placing third in the long jump.
Westgate’s Caitlin Booker won the 3,200 meters (13:26.70) and was second in the 1,600.
Cecilia won the boys’ title with 113 points followed by Carencro (75.85), New Iberia (67), Acadiana and Breaux Bridge (66 points), Westgate (50), Lafayette (47), Alexandria (39.85), Lafayette Christian (19.85) and Comeaux (18).
Westgate’s Kayshon Boutte was a triple winner, claiming the 100 (11.29), 200 (22.27) and 400 meter dashes (47.83).
WHS teammate Kolyn Saltzman finished second in both the 1,600 and 3,200 meters.
NISH’s Aaron Landry finished tied with Cecilia’s Drake Trahan for the pole vault title as the both cleared the height of 12 feet.
NISH’s Londyn Roberts finished second in the 800 meters and third in the 400 meters, Joshua Mason was third in the long jump and Jaydon Hall was third in the 300 hurdles. NISH also finished second in the 4x400 relay with Jaydon Hall, Devin Jeanlouis, Mason and Roberts.
