Rosa B. Tomplait, 72, of New Iberia and a former resident of LaPorte, Texas, passed away peacefully at her residence on Thursday, October 4, 2012.
She was born on November 26, 1939, to Louise Bennett Rouly Reaux and Willie Reaux Sr. in New Iberia. She married Clifford Tomplait and they moved to Texas, where they lived for 50 years until his death in 2007. Rosa worked as a beautician at Happy Harbor Nursing Home for over 15 years. She loved dogs, shopping, playing bingo and the slot machines at any casino.
Visitation will be on Saturday, October 6, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves, Texas. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with the Rev. Stephen McCrate, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Clifford; and three brothers-in-law Ronald Aucoin, Leroy and Joe Tomplait.
She is survived by two special nieces Joy Reaux Latiolais and Gerry Muzny of New Iberia; her sister Janet Aucion of New Iberia; her brothers Eugene Reaux Sr. and his wife, Susie, Glynn Reaux and his wife, Caroline, and Willie Reaux Sr., all of New Iberia; sister-in-law Minnie Tomplait of Texas; along with numerous other nieces and nephews.
