JEANERETTE – A Home Going Celebration for Mrs. Rebecca E. Nathan, 95, the former Rebecca Ellis, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2011, at First Jerusalem Baptist Church, Jeanerette, with Rev. Arthur Lee Alexander officiating. She will await the resurrection at Heavenly Rest Cemetery, Jeanerette.

A gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday at the church from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Sis Rebecca “Beck” Nathan was born on December 20, 1915, to the late Henry and Alicia Ellis. She departed this life and entered into peaceful rest on Saturday, February 19, 2011.

In 1937, she was united in holy matrimony with the late Robert Nathan. During that 64-year union, they were blessed with two daughters Gladys Nathan Kitchens and Antonette Nathan Moore.

She was a long standing member of the First Jerusalem Baptist. She was a deaconess and a member of the FJBC Senior Choir, Home Mission Ministry and the Busy Bee Club.

She leaves to cherish her memories her two daughters Gladys Kitchens (Tampa, Fla.) and Antonette Moore (Duluth, Ga.); two granddaughters Nicole Kitchens (Tampa, Fla.) and LaShawna Dixon (Duluth, Ga.); six great-grandchildren Shanetta, Robert, Kevin and Keshawna Kitchens (Tampa, Fla.), Damier Moore and Brianna Dixon (Duluth, Ga.); devoted nieces and nephews Betty (Sam) Cooper, Gwendolyn (Delaney) Key (goddaughter), Jacqueline Nathan, Iris Lynn (Eddie) Stevenson, Valenti N. Stevenson, Ronald Nathan, Ben (Barbara) Nathan Jr., Earlean L. Dotson, Leroy Hensley Sr., Leroy Hensley Jr., Wardell (Marlene) Nathan, Chris (Sharita) Nathan; two goddaughters Ethel E. Nathan and Loretta Williams; and a host of special relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Nathan; her parents, Henry and Alicia Ellis; sister Ruby E. Trent; sisters-in-law Martha Hensley, Georgia Ford, Lizzie Linton, Fannie Broussard, Celestine Martin; and brothers-in-law Ben Nathan Sr., Lloyd Nathan Sr. and Edward Nathan.

Active pallbearers will be Burnell Broussard Jr., Ronnie Nathan, Robert Kitchens, Larry Navy, Kevin Kitchens and Horace Alex.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Nathan, Leroy Hensley, Wardell Nathan, Kevin Sutton, Clifford Marks and Keith Lewis.
