LYDIA — A Home Going Celebration will be held for Mrs. Horace Alex Sr., the former Marie Bobb, 76, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at St. James Baptist Church, Lydia, with Rev. Ferris Martin Sr. officiating. She will await the resurrection at St. James Baptist Church Cemetery, Louisiana 182, Jeanerette.
A gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday at church 8 a.m. until time of service.
A native of Louisa and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Alex passed at 9:10 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2011, at Lafayette General Medical Center. She was a member of St. James Baptist Church and also served on the Usher Ministry.
She leaves to cherish her memories loving her husband, Horace Alex Sr., of New Iberia; three sons Horace Alex Jr., (Sharon) of Jeanerette, Tony Alex Sr. (Tanya) of Youngsville and Tad Alex Sr. (Leisa) of San Antonio, Texas; three daughters Minister Vinna Comeaux, Denise Alex and Faynell Loston (Allen) all of New Iberia; one brother Harold Bobb of Lydia; three sisters Betsy Nell Hamilton, Pearl Lafell of Houston and Deborah Coleman of New Iberia; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She now joins in glory with her parents, Manuel Bobb Sr. and Pearl Marshall Bobb; one son Hugh T. Alex; one granddaughter Dominique Alex; one brother Emanuel Bobb; and two sisters Lula Sims and Elizabeth Mitchell.
Active pallbearers will be Wilbert Mitchell Jr., Brian Benson, Anthony LaFell, PFC Jsaykel Pitre, Keenon Johnson and Alfred Evans.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Bobb, Carlton Alex, Rev. Zachary Mitchell Sr., Glenn Alex, Eli Phillips, Allen Loston, Van Ray Alexander, Terrance Francis, Robert H. Coleman and the grandsons.
