A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Pradia passed at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014, at his residence.
Charles was an avid lover of horses. He became involved with horses with Ron “Poppa” Alleman where he trained horses and had the privilege to attend the Kentucky Derby. One of the horses he trained won the derby. That accomplishment was one of the many highlights in his life.
He later worked for Ulysses Gonsoulin and Sons until his illness. Above all the loves that he had in his life, there was no greater love than his family. No matter who you were, he was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He leaves to cherish is memory and in God’s care his companion of nine years Shelia Blanchard of New Iberia; one son Edward Charlie Pradia Jr.; one daughter Tomicka Frick of New Iberia; two brothers David Jones of Beaumont, Texas, and Harrison “Kookie” Jones III of New Iberia; four sisters Regina P. Henry of New Iberia, Carolyn “Kat” Gabriel of Abbeville, Cynthia Doucette of Maurice and Joyce Lewis of New Iberia; four grandchildren Jacoby Frick, Senica Jones, Sierra Jones and Jodi Jones, all of New Iberia; one great-grandchild Kaiden Segura; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He now joins in glory with his wife, Helen Frick; parents, Edward Joseph Pradia and Julia Mae Thompson; maternal grandparents, Mary Magelina Thompson and Julius Thompson; paternal grandparents, Mary Pradia and Mayo Pradia; two brothers Donald Ray Jones and Edward Joseph Doucette.
Active pallbearers will be Raphael Thompson, Francis Pollard Jr., Jacoby Frick, Jody Jones, Jarrick Augustine and Chad Pradia Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Darby, Ron Alleman, Blaine Touchet, Billy Brown, Chad Pradia Sr. and James Smith.
