A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Dr. Mark Francis Molbert, 54, at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Fr. David Romero, S.J. will be the celebrant and co-celebrants will be Fr. Charles Langlois, Fr. Joseph Stemmans and Fr. Angelo Cremaldi. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Evangeline Funeral Home, with the recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. The visitation will continue at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Dr. Molbert passed away at 9:25 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at Dauterive Hospital.

Dr. Molbert was a graduate of Catholic High School, University of Southwestern Louisiana and LSU School of Dentistry and has practiced in New Iberia for 30 years. Professionally, he was a member of the American Dental Association and Louisiana Dental Association.  He was also a member of the Coastal Conservation Association.

Dr. Molbert was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of St. Peter’s Parish Council and a committee member for St. Peter’s Adoration Chapel. He was an avid fisherman and LSU sports fan.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Sharon Bujard Molbert, of New Iberia; his children Charles Mark Molbert of Lafayette, Lucas James Molbert and fiancée Renée Dugas of Baton Rouge and Amanda Louise Molbert of Lafayette; brothers Dr. David Molbert of New Iberia, Timothy Molbert and wife, Mary Kay, of Kenner, Matthew Molbert and wife, Sylvia, of Lafayette; sisters Rebecca Kennedy and husband, Sammy, of New Iberia, Alice McDuff and husband, Jim, of New Iberia; and sister-in-law Sheila Molbert; father and mother-in-law, Dr. Burt and Corinne Conrad  Bujard; sisters-in-law Fran Bice and husband, Jay, of  Lake Charles, Cyndi Broussard and husband, Mark, of New Iberia, Lisa Durand and husband, Jeff, of St. Martinville and Corinne Rubin of Scottsdale, Ariz.; brothers-in-law Burt Bujard Jr. of New Iberia, Conrad Bujard and wife, Michelle, of Kenner, Will Bujard and fiancée, Katy Bienvenu, of St. Martinville and Marty Bujard of New Iberia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Charles and Inez Sumrall Molbert; brother-in-law Frank Doerle; and nephews John Thomas Bice and Blake Anthony Broussard.

Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Molbert, Lucas Molbert, Dr. David Molbert, Timothy Molbert, Matthew Molbert and Jay Bice.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Burt Bujard, Kent Desormeaux, John Valls, Rene Gary, Mark Broussard, Jeff Durand, Sammy Kennedy, Jim McDuff, Wesley Meyers and Dr. Michael Tuite.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dr. Molbert’s name to the Catholic High Endowment Fund or Catholic High Goldie Bujard Memorial Fund, 1301 de LaSalle St., New Iberia, LA 70560, The New Iberia Social Service Center, 432 Bank Ave., New Iberia, LA 70560 or to the St. Peter’s Capital Campaign Fund.
