On May 27, 2012, the caretakers of heaven’s garden were in need of another rare and lovely rose. They searched the Earth and in Iberia Medical Center, New Iberia, they found the perfect bloom, with permission from the heavenly Father, the rose we knew as Clifton August was picked from his earthly home and replanted in heaven. There he continues to bloom for evermore.

Clifton attended Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School until the eighth grade, then Jeanerette Colored High School, later attended F.M. Boley High School where he graduated in 1965 and went on to Grambling College in Grambling. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era in Vietnam. Later in life, he was elected as Parish Councilman for District 12. He was a former employee of Premier Offshore and Offshore Energy as a Drive Pipe Welder for many years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 549. His favorite pastimes were fishing, making baits, off track betting, and shooting pool. He was a member of the tournament bass fishing club “Century 21” and “B.B.B.B.C.” (Boley Black Bass Busters Club). He fished tournaments in Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and all parts of the Quad State Circuit.

He leaves to cherish his memory and in God’s care one son Da’mon August of Jeanerette; three grandchildren Oceana August, Da’monique August and Da’Niyah August, all of Jeanerette; two sisters Emily A. Green of Jeanerette and Cynthia Faye Matthews of Jeanerette; seven sisters-in-law Janet L.
