The Iberia Parish Narcotics Division on consecutive days this week arrested two men on drug-related charges and seized thousands of dollars and stacks of illegal drugs.
The first of the two separate busts came Thursday afternoon with the help of the canine unit. Gary Jones, 40, of 517 San Jacinto Circle, had been suspected of selling narcotics out of his vehicle, according to narcotics division reports.
After one of the narcotics detector dogs made what officials call a positive alert, Jones reportedly allowed deputies to search his vehicle. The bust netted four ounces of marijuana, 14 grams of powder cocaine, 28 grams of crack cocaine and nearly $4,000 in cash, said Capt. Wendell Raborn, spokesman for the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
On Friday, a weeklong narcotics investigation culminated in a residential search in Jeanerette. Joshua Sam, 25, 1712 Church St., Jeanerette, was found to be in possession of 2 pounds of marijuana, 4 ounces of liquid codeine, one Lortab, an ecstasy pill and nearly $2,000 in cash.
Sam and Jones were booked into the Iberia Parish Correctional Center on a multitude of drug charges.
