Current electricity bills are out, they have almost doubled the electricity rates.  They do this in the middle of a economic downturn, people are having a hard time paying thier bills.  Way to go Cleco.  The City needs to start looking to replace them.

I live in Mandeville and my usage has gone DOWN and my bill has DOUBLED!! There is not stopping a monopoly from charging you whatever they deem a "fair price."

I have Entergy and that's what the "big" cost is on my bill...the fuel charge. Let me also say, I've had Slemco, Cleco and Entergy. Entergy has been the best for me. I have no complaints about them.

Slemco is good. My daughter has Slemco. Her bill is always at least half of what mine is with cleco. We keep our thermostat on 78 and she keeps hers on 72. Why do cleco customers pay so much more. By the way my daughter lives only 10 minutes awy from us.

Everyone is always complaining about the price of things going up and no one ever does the research to find out why. Utility companies as a whole provide all of us with a convenience, that's why we aren't all still living in caves...maybe those of you who are griping about utility costs should go and live in one for a while.

One fourth of my bill is Electric Charge. HALF my bill if Fuel Adjustments, And the other Fourth is fees for projects, Hurricanes and anything they can think of to charge for.Its disgusting to think they can just charge like this with No Mercy or checks and balances..Its also Disgusting that One would think they are being protected by the Public Service Commission, This is the Scary part, Because the Public Service Commission has NO power or authority of electric bills or Electric Companies billing, None, Only bids on Gas. Electric Companies have us by the............xxxxx

Let me put an end to the hysteria. I have my actual bills in hand. The total charge exclusive of the City Franchise Fee (which may not apply to you) has gone from $0.09 (December) to $0.11 (March) per kilowatt. That is a 22% increase, not a 100% increase. Most of it is in the Fuel charge which can and will fluctuate with fuel costs NO MATTER WHO YOU HAVE YOUR SERVICE WITH. (Notice the price of gas?) If your bill is double, your usage increased. Plain, simple, and undeniable.

My bill has also doubled! It's really sad that they can just adjust their rates monthly with no advance notification. They need some type of competition! I also called and complained to Cleco, maybe we should contact the president of their company and let him hear some of our complaints!

Well, I called the office, and they did have a major increase! The bill now, the way it is written, is supposed to be more user friendly. The way the bill is done now, its harder to tell, the way the break up all the charges. Anyway, the did have the increase, and no reason for it! The lady I spoke to, could not explain it! And what are we to do, pay it and shut up! Compatition is what we need! See how once Satellite came out, Cox had to adjust its rates!

To jenayroux, cable and cell phones are not something you must have, so get rid of them if you don't want to pay. Cleco efficiently provides electric power to your home so you can live in comfort. You would really gripe if you were having power outtages, but Cleco has wisely used the money gained from our bills to provide excellent service. You don't have to use Cleco. Buy yourself some solar panels and get off the grid. Take some responsibility.

Chuck B: right on the nose. Entergy is a rip-off and the PSC is not going to do a darn thing about it. Called them, they said the same thing. I challenge everyone to look at each of the rates.SLEMCO is by far the lowest, then CLECO, and Entergy is the most expensive by a long shot. And as Chuck B mentioned, they charge what they want. Sounds like a bunch of legal thievery going on.

Cleco bill just about doubled. NOTHING CAN STOP THEM FROM DOUBLING UP NEXT MONTH OR THE NEXT. WHY don't we have 2 or more electric companies competing for our business? CLECO are greedy crooks. Why doesn't my pay check double? What other companies will start doubling their rates, i.e., Cable, Cell Phone, Water? I'm so tired of all the greed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had Cleco in two different parts of the state for over 10 years and I have had nothing but good service and good rates. There could be a problem with your meter. All you have to do is call them and they will come out and check it out for you.

I wonder does cleco have medical baseline rates or rate discounts for seniors? Do they have programs to assist seniors or people temporarily down on their luck considering the economy? Do they promote energy efficiency programs or give assistance to customers doing weatherization? Do they have oversight? do they have a graduated rate schedule? just asking?

My bill has never gone over $60 in a small apartment until this month. I have lived here for 4 years! It is $120 this month! I have done nothing different but conserve as much as possible!

My bill has not changed by more than $5 since Novenmber, including the current bill. Suggest you check your usage. Moreover, if you live in the city, you voted to extend Cleco's contract for 25 years just a few years ago. They aren't going anywhere. AND even if what you say were true, Cleco is not a charity. Just what does the economy have to do with the price of anything? No wonder the socialists are about to ram Obamacare down our throats with that kind of attitude.

Thats a true democratic approach. The only problem, you'll pay more for less.
