The caravan stopped at the home of alumni Dan and Mary Beth McDonald along with several supporters of Northwestern St. University who came out for the tour stop.
Peveto, who took over head coaching duties last year, said that despite last season’s 0-11 record, the team showed promise late in the year.

“Our kids played their tails off in the SFA (Stephen F. Austin) game and they were the conference champions. Our team was hard and competitive late in the year and we built on that over the spring and summer.”
The Victory Tour, which will have stops in Baton Rouge and Alexandria next week and in north Louisiana later in the summer, is designed to generate enthusiasm for the athletic program and in particular the upcoming football season.
It gives the coach a chance to get out and promote the university and do a little recruiting in the process.
“Coming to events like this is fun,” said Peveto. “I think we have to do this and we love to do this. It is a lot of fun.”
Peveto said that while he was on vacation last week in Florida, somebody asked him what he was doing next week and the coach explained about the victory tour and what it was about.
“They said it sounded like a drag but I told them it was a lot of fun,” said Peveto. “It’s a chance to go all over the state to see the fans and supporters.”
The coach added that If the university is going to ask people to drive and watch the team play, it’s only right for the coaches to come and visit the fans at stops all over the state. He also added that the stop in Youngsville was a great experience and that he wished he could visit more communities the same way.
Peveto is looking forward to taking his 2010 team into the Southland Conference wars saying that the parity in the conference is very close.
“Everybody has good players and are getting good transfers and everybody has fine quarterbacks,” said Peveto. “It’s a tough league no doubt about it.”
This season’s schedule as the Demons visiting the Air Force Academy and North Dakota while playing host to Southland Conference rivals McNeese and Nicholls.
