DHS girls clinch district title, 51-50

DELCAMBRE -- Tailor Broussard scored 13 points and Jenny Bouillion added 12 as Delcambre rallied from a 3-point halftime deficit to beat Vermilion Catholic 51-50 and clinch the District 7-A title outright Friday.

Trailing 26-23 at halftime, the Lady Panthers cut the lead to 39-38 by the end of the third quarter and outscored VC 13-11 in the final quarter for the 1-point win.

Jaci Trahan added 11 points and Cassie Mayer chipped in 10 for DHS (15-12, 7-0), which steps out of district to play at Northside Christian Tuesday.

Ashley Theall had 18 points and Brooke Broussard added 11 for the Lady Eagles (17-9, 3-3).

Comeaux 46, New Iberia 31

LAFAYETTE -- Jada Clark had 12 points as Comeaux rallied from a 1-point halftime deficit to beat New Iberia Senior High Friday in a District 4-5A game.

Alisa Darby added 10 for the Lady Spartans (25-8, 5-1) who trailed 19-18 at half but outscored NISH 28-12 in the second half.

Shawanna Williams led the Lady Jackets (11-21, 0-5) with 16 points and Jasmin Fusilier added 12.

NISH plays host to Carencro Tuesday.

Jeanerette 46, Opelousas Catholic 21

JEANERETTE -- Shemika Dwyer and Rayleonard Williams each had 11 points as Jeanerette blew past Opelousas Catholic in District 6-2A action Friday.

Jade Green added 9 points for the Lady Tigers (15-13, 7-2), who outscored OCHS 13-6 in the second quarter to blow open a close game.

Lana Pitre led the Lady Vikings (1-17, 1-8) with 8 points.

JSH closes out district play Tuesday at Ville Platte, then plays host to North Central Thursday to close the regular season.

Erath 50, Rayne 43, OT

RAYNE — Kasey Landry had 24 points as Erath survived a second-half rally by Rayne and beat the Lady Wolves 50-43 in overtime in District 5-3A Friday.

Jessica Bouillion added 10 for Erath (7-18, 1-9) who led 21-15 at halftime only to see Rayne rally to tie the game 42-42 at the end of regulation.

The Lady Bobcats outscored Rayne (4-21, 1-9) 8-1 in the extra period for the win.

Brandy Gibson had 18 for the Lady Wolves.

Erath closes out the regular season Tuesday at North Vermilion.
