LOREAUVILLE — Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Elmo J. Mestayer, the former Eldise Borel, 81, on Thursday, January 28, 2010, at 3 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will begin on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will resume on Thursday, January 28, 2010, from 10 a.m. until service. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

Readers are Jaime Martin and Chantel  Mestayer. Gift bearers are Alyson Mestayer, Simone Mestayer, Logan Martin and Meagan Martin. Jack David Martin and Kylie Kay Mestayer will accompany the gift bearers.

A native and resident of Loreauville, Mrs. Mestayer died on Monday, January 25, 2010, at 10:15 p.m. at her residence in Loreauville. Mrs. Mestayer worked for Loreauville Elementary School as a cafeteria manager for nine years and she was owner and operator of Mestayer Grocery Store along with her husband for 21 years.

She is survived by her children Kyle Mestayer Sr. and his wife, Janice, of St. Martinville, Gregory Mestayer of Mandeville, Aaron Mestayer and his wife, Roxanne, of Parks; grandchildren Jaime Martin and her husband, Terry, of New Iberia, Kyle Mestayer Jr. and his wife, Chantel, of Loreauville, Bryson Mestayer of Parks, Alyson Mestayer of Parks; great-grandchildren Kylie Kay Mestayer of Loreauville, Jack David Martin of New Iberia, step-great-grandchildren Logan Martin of New Iberia and Meagan Martin of New Iberia.

Mrs. Mestayer was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo J. Mestayer; daughter Karen Mestayer; parents, Willis J. Borel and Cordelia Thibodeaux Borel.

Pallbearers will be Gregory Mestayer, Kyle Mestayer Sr., Aaron Mestayer, Kyle Mestayer Jr., Bryson Mestayer and Terry Martin.

The family would like to thank her most recent caregivers Betty Joseph, Brandy Angers and Judy Reed, including also those caregivers that helped over the last year and half. Their care and thoughtfulness was a blessing and we are forever thankful. A special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Acadiana for their love and support.
