Hundreds observe Roe v. Wade ruling

That an estimated 700 local residents participated Tuesday evening in a March for Life Walk and Mass shows how much people care about the right to life issue in this region of the Diocese of Lafayette, said the Rev. Charles Langlois of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

Langlois said the annual event is held to recognize the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark decision legalizing abortion that was handed down 37 years ago this month. He said the participants marched from the Grotto on Main Street to St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where a Mass was held.

“We invite all of the city to come. It is impressive,” he said about the turnout. “Other walks around the Lafayette usually don’t attract that many people.”

While the main emphasis is on abortion, the church doesn’t target a single life issue, he said. The death penalty, euthanasia and war also are covered by the pro life ministry.

I agree with you, the KC's always look impressive in their uniforms. I've heard that it is a demanding process to qualify as a Knight, but I think I will give it a try.
They make me very proud to be a Catholic!!! "

" I think it is sad that we care more about the unborn than we do about the breathing. Our soldiers are dying everyday, we are killing innocent breathing children everyday because of greed and close-mindedness. Let us march for them also. With that said, one more thing. I know if my daughter was raped I wouldn't want her to have to go through 9 months carrying that baby. Or for her to give birth and have to put one more child up for adoption to feel unwanted all its life. Think about that before you call a sinner. "

" Father with all due respect to you and all that participated in this event - Our Church has not placed an equal emphasis on protecting human life in all areas - abortion of the unborn seems to be the focus - sending children to die in undefined wars, persons dying in poverty here and elswhere due to neglect - should not our Church resist all things detremental to human life on a regular basis - should we consider environmental affects ? are we ? the march was for the unborn - should it not be for the unfortunate "
