Citizens have last word

Published/Last Modified on Sunday, November 22, 2009 6:09 AM CST

The current president of the United States of America was only elected by registered members of the Republican, Democratic and Independent Parties. It is a fact that President Obama inherited the situation that plainly put is a “big mess!” I believe he was elected because he promised “change” in order to correct the “status quo.”

When I was old enough to vote (years ago), I became a Democrat. When later I retired from my job working for the 16th Judicial District Clerk of Court in St. Mary Parish, I changed to Republican and now I am registered as Independent. I found after I tried them all, I was inclined to vote for the candidate ... all our parties aren’t much different after all!

It will take the combined efforts of Republicans, Democrats and Independents to make possible a good and productive change. President Obama can’t succeed by himself alone.

Consider what has happened so far ... can members of Congress not realize that Americans will and can vote and they will get the last word in the end.
