JEANERETTE — Funeral services will be held for Miss Betty Joyce Alfred, 54, a resident and native of Jeanerette, on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Morning Pilgrim Baptist Church in Jeanerette. Interment will follow in the Morning Pilgrim Baptist Church Cemetery in Jeanerette.

Miss Alfred died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at 8 p.m. at her residence in Jeanerette.

Visitation will be observed at Morning Pilgrim Baptist Church in Jeanerette on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2009, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Miss Alfred is survived by a companion Wallace Stevens of New Iberia.; her mother,  Mary Alfred Pierce; stepfather, George Pierce; one son Zackery Alfred Sr. and his wife, Carolyn, of New Iberia; six sisters Cornelia Engleton and her husband, Jesse, of Jeanerette; Annie Lewis and her husband, Johnell, Juanita Clay and her husband, Anderson Jr., both of New Iberia, Betty Sonnier and her husband Embrick of Shreveport, Rose Gray of Alexandria and Hilda Baldwin of Baton Rouge; 12 brothers: Joseph Alfred and his wife, Tania, Donovan Lewis and his wife, Tina,  Robert Lewis, Cortez Lewis and Raymond Burney, all of Jeanerette; Theopolis Baldwin and his wife, Sharon, of Houston; Roy Baldwin of Sheveport, Mathews Baldwin of Baton Rouge, Jack Baldwin and Robert Kennedy,  both of  Hollywood, Calif., Andre Derouer and Lonnie Joseph, both of New Iberia and one grandchild.

Miss Alfred was preceded in death by her father, a step-father and one brother.

Rev. Charles Moncriffe will be officiating. Otis Mortuary, Inc. of Franklin is in charge of preparations.
