He was a veteran of World War II. He served in the Army from Sept. 10, 1943, to Sept. 25, 1945. Brother Chester Archangel Sr. was united in marriage to Lucille Daniel Archangel for over 61 years. From this union, six children were born. Two children were stillborn and four surviving children. Because of their love for Christ and each other, Brother Chester and Sister Lucille reared four children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Brother Archangel served faithfully as chairman of the Deacon Board, superintendent and teacher of the Sunday School Department at Little Zorah Baptist Church for many years, where he loved and cherished his church family as his own. He also participated in jail ministry, visitation of the sick in area care centers, hospitals and shut-ins at home. He loved to pray and praise His Holy Father’s name. As he would often say “I love the LORD!”
