I am at a loss to understand why gas prices in St Mary parish (in particular Franklin) are the first to go up, yet the last to drop. This happens at merchants that sell different brands of gasoline . It is usually on average 10 cents higher than it's adjacent parishes . Any answers would be greatly appreciated .

" Dugas Oil runs the gas stations in St. Mary Parish. I live in Franklin, but refuse to purchase my gas anywhere in St. Mary Parish. Ridiculous to pay that much for gas when I can get it MUCH cheaper somewhere else. "

" You only have 2 gas distributors who serve 99% of the stations in St. Mary Parish. Why have a war on lower prices when you can both keep prices higher. (i.e. more profit) The 3rd who is not a local just goes with the flow, why cut his profits, when he can reap the benefits of an extra 10-12 cents a gallon. Just my 10 cents worth. Supply and demand, you demand it, they supply it at whatever price the market will bear. "
