A dictionary definition of “insanity” is as follows: Includes unsoundness of mind as affects legal responsibility or capacity; extreme folly; senselessness; and foolhardiness. I don’t know if it’s possible, but I really believe our nation is insane. If any clear thinking person with just a little common sense looks at the decisions our country is making, I think they would have to come to the same conclusion.

We have decided that because we are in massive and record debt (more than $12 trillion!), we will now spend money like a drunken sailor. We have also decided that since our federal government has bankrupted every program it has tried to run, we will now turn over entire segments of the auto and banking industries to them! If that’s not enough, we are debating on giving them control of private health care! That’s insane.

On the political correctness front, we are watching the unfolding of the Fort Hood tragedy. The evidence is growing and showing that a Muslim army doctor, who was mosque mates with the 9/11 terrorists, began to tell his colleagues that infidels (non-Muslims) should be beheaded  and have hot oil poured down their necks! What action did the army take on this terrorist? They promoted him to major! They assigned him to counsel soldiers, and allowed him to walk around Fort Hood with automatic weapons! He massacred many. Now that’s insane!

The list of symptoms goes on and on and is more than enough for an accurate diagnosis. Abraham Lincoln warned that America would never be destroyed from without. He lamented that “if destruction be our lot” it would come from within. The enemy is no longer at the gates. They are in the midst of us. 2 Chronicles 7:14 may be the only cure for our national insanity. May God help us.
