Buy Insurance or go to jail

Yep, that is part of comrade Pelosi's healthcare bill passed in the middle of the night on Saturday.  Don't buy insurance, go to jail for 5 years.  I have always carried insurance in good times and bad, so what do you slackers who thought a free ride was coming think about this?

" I agree with most of what you say. But there are some realities that don't fit into your statement. While it's true we don't Have to own a car living in this part of the country we don't have bus services and cab's are too expensive for frequent use which is inconvenient for maintaining job status. Walking is one thing but it rains here often enough to be a problem with an employer. AND if you and the bank or lending company own the car you need much more than liability_required_by_the_lender_insurance. "

Big difference, first of all you do not have to own a car (difficult but not impossible) and you are only required to carry liability (thank attorneys), second it is the mortgage company requiring you to carry homeowners not the government.

Our governement is out of control, until we quit catering to the non-productive people in the country we will continue this downward spiral. "

" To "it will get worse," what you're saying makes enough sense. It's just that there are some who want to stereotype slackers right along with those who were unemployed and maybe facing some of the same issues due to no fault of their own. I have been laid off. I don't get welfare or foodstamps, I pay taxes like everybody else but I'm far from being a jobless slacker. That term is biased and judgemental. The truth is you can't go around throwing out terms like "slacker" in this poor economy. It's affecting rich and poor alike. "

" To "get a job" just how many thousands of jobs does New Iberia have? In the real world, people who once made 70K a year have gladly took jobs paying $7/hr. You were one of a fortunate few or you found a good sale on Kleenex. "

" Wonder why some people never stay laid off? I have lost several jobs and found new ones in a few weeks. I know a lot of people who have done the same. If you aren't capable of supporting yourself without the GUBMENT why do think your are smart enough to understand the problem,or elect the right person to fix it. If you cant take care of yourself, you shoud stay home on election day. Iberia parish still has employment for inteligent people willing to work. Hhmmm if you make a kid you provide for it. Giveme sum dat money. "

" I think we should spend more money for a jail for the crooked politicians in Washington and start convicting them and sending them to jail for what they are doing to this country! Charlie Rangle,Jefferson,Conyers,Dodd,Barney Frank. They won't do anything to their fellow congress persons because they ALL are crooked! "

" Just Saying – this post was directed at slackers. Working folks mostly are not that. And the number of layoffs is 7 million. As to why they were laid off, yes some were lazy; they are the first to go when things get tight. Many were laid off (and are not being hired) because employers are fearful of Obama’s attacks on all productive people. I for instance just closed a location that was breaking even. After Obamacare and Tax and Trade, it would have lost money, so I cut my losses now. "

" Going to jail may not be so bad. They get free food and free health care.

To Lol and Car Insurance. You are forced to buy car insurance to protect me, not yourself.

However, I agree that health insurance is a right. I also believe a new car, big screen TV and cell phones are a right. Just send Pelosi the bill. "

" Friends, I have been unemployed - actually went to work for free to prove I could do the job to get out of that rut. Didn't collect a dime for months. Still had insurance. Didn't have cable, cell phone, cigarettes, beer, or 20" rims, but I had insurance. If is about priorities and personal responsibility. Things far too many today can't spell let alone understand. "

" Won't people need JOBS first to make the money to pay for the insurance? Last I heard there were more than 10 million jobless. "

" The ones who want the free ride will end up getting the free ride. They will be jobless, collecting "checks" and be eligible for the free stuff, as it is now. It's the middle class, like me (actually lower middle class), who will end up suffering when this thing really snowballs out of control. "

I don't support the "babies born in America become a citizen "automatically" qualifying for Medicaid benefits" but I still think all American children deserve good health care plans, including immunizations.

Sorry, but you sure do come across as cocky! Carrying a chip on that shoulder dude? "
