Competition for Cox

Other than satellite, which I have never had and not sure of the quality, why is there no cable competition for Cox? Cable is not a necessity, but it has become something that is hard to live without and this is apparent b/c of the cost of cable. Cable has become just as expensive as electricity. I have internet b/c I have a school aged son to complete assignments, but I am tempted to disconnect it b/c my bill has been over $100 and I do not have HBO, Cinemax, etc. Then commercials appear for specials that an existing customer can not take advantage of unless you have not had service for at least 3 months. What a way to reward us. What is your opinion on this?

" i pay for premier internet service and get downloads of 2mbps when it should be at 25 and up, i call cox and they send 3 techs out over the course of this week. problem still not corrected and they say its a networking issue that is affecting the whole service area?, and should be fixed, by the end of january!? thats weeks of poor service that i and other customers in the area are paying for. they would care more about fixing issues if they had proper competition in the area. " Quick information traffic is vital to developing New Iberia. If you relocate the sugarcane operations on the old spanish trail to a more sanitary location, and replace those pastures with residency and/or businesses, then the bond between the city of Lafayette and the town of New Iberia will strengthen.

It should be illegal to grow sugarcane within 4 miles of a residential neighborhood. When the cane is burned, pesticides and ash fill the air, damaging the immune systems of everyone within miles.

New Iberia's city counsel needs to act upon this quickly! "

" Information is as vital to a growing society as water is. The economy simply WILL NOT pick up in areas where there isn't fast information traffic. The pastures between New Iberia and Lafayette will remain sugarcane farmland, and New Iberia will continue to be a town with a weak economy, so long as the old spanish trail is underdeveloped.

The sugarcane fields are far too close to residences. When they are burned, pesticides and ash fill the air, weakening everyone's immune systems within several miles. The city counsel needs to relocate these operations! "

" It all a rip-off/ I live in calif and we pay about $180 a month for the bundle. I don't feel too bad now. We're getting an antenna becuse the programming is duplicated nite after nite. Deregulation only created monopolies that prey on us. american business have no integrity or sense of fair play, its all about greed. There should be a cancel cable service for a month day, its not a necessity. I'm game if you guys are, say when "

" When I bought my house, I found out Cox was not available. Now, I'm glad. I have Suddenlink. I pay $87 a month for cable and internet and have plenty of channels to watch. I hate those "introductory rates". And, they can't tell you what the price will be when the promotion is over. It depends on the rates when the promotion expires. "

" I too live in NI and have Cox. My bill runs about $200/mo. I have the "bundle" which is phone, internet & cable. Its a ripoff bc Cox has no competition. Those "new customer incentives" should be offerred to those of us that have been faithful to them to keep our business. Too bad we cant all boycott them and make them lower their prices.... "

" I live in New Iberia and I am with you. The price seems to be the same with Cox, Direct, or other Satellite. WHY ??
I dont have HBO. Just TV and internet and it's $120 a month. Checked into AT&T. Same pricing. "

" I have Directv. After being a customer of Cox for 15 years, we built a house on Loreauville road. Being satisfied with Cox all these years and having my internet with them, we wanted to have the same service transferred to us here at our new home. They claimed that they would have to "bore" under the road to run the service for our home at a cost of $1800. We were like "WHAT?" So that is when we had switch service to Directv for our tv and AT&T for internet. Still expensive. "

" I have Dish Satellite with 250 channels and pay about $79/mo. I do have cinemax because there was a special at the time. And, I have Hughes net satellite internet. Tat is about $70/mo. Wish we had Cox here. We have no Cox, no DSL, so we have to dish out more. What a political crazy thing. "
