Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia for Sidney J. Oubre Jr., 82, who passed away on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, in Broussard.

Entomb-ment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum in Loreauville.

Rev. Paul Neel will officiate.

Born on Jan. 20, 1927, in Loreauville, Mr. Oubre worked for the International Salt Co. for over 30 years and proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking and making people laugh.

Survivors include his sons Ivy Oubre and wife, Reyne, of Houston, Miguel Oubre of New Iberia; daughter Christine Oubre Darby of New Iberia; sister Genevieve Crochet of New Iberia; brother Harold Oubre of Dallas; grandchildren Aubrey Dooley, Laura Reaux and husband, Jeromy, Blake Darby, Dylan Darby; great-grandchildren Camden Reaux, Ella Reaux, Maya Reaux, Elexa Dooley, Pilot Reaux and Finn Reaux.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Oubre; parents, Sidney J. Oubre Sr. and Corinne Dugas Oubre; brothers Ivy Joseph Oubre and Doris “Doc” Oubre.

Pallbearers will be Ivy Oubre, Miguel Oubre, Blake Darby, Ernest Crochet, Bill Desormeaux and Raymond Boutte.

A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., in New Iberia. Visitation will continue Wednes-day from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.
