Rita B. Viator

Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. E. J. Viator Jr., the former Rita Broussard, 85, Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at 10 a.m. in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Charles Duck officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Visitation will begin on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. and resume Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, from 8 a.m. until services. A Rosary will be prayed Friday at 7 p.m.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Viator died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at 5 p.m. in a local health care facility. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Choir, member of the Friends of the Shadows and on the board of Friends of the Iberia Parish Library. She was also a member of Fortnightly Club, an adult tutor for P.E.P I. and member of the New Iberia Museum Committee. Mrs. Viator was past president of the Les Amis and a former member of the Louisiana State Text Book Review Committee.

She is survived by her children Lisa McGee and husband, Lee, of New Iberia, Annette Marie Viator of New Iberia; four grandchildren Dr. Kurt Eppley, Nicole Arnold, Meagan Patout and Matthew Crane; two great-grandchildren and her beloved cousin Suzanne Bourgeois.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E.J. Viator Jr.; her parents, Caesar and Anita Marie Broussard; a son Kurt Viator; a brother Donald Broussard; and a grandson Jeffrey Patout.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Viator, Ronald Broussard, Kurt Eppley, Matthew Crane, Andy Hebert and Brian Marie.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lee McGee, Nicole Arnold, Megan Patout, Daniel Eppley and Avery Crane.
