Catholic High, Delcambre and New Iberia Senior High weren't as fortunate as the Tigers, all suffering tough losses to their respective districts' leaders.
CHS jumped out to a quick 21-0 first quarter lead against District 6-3A leader E.D. White, but the Cardinals took advantage of a late turnover to score after the halftime buzzer, then tied the score with an early third-quarter touchdown on the way to a 35-21 win over the Panthers.

And New Iberia held District 4-5A leader St. Thomas More to 13 first-half points, but couldn't put any points up themselves despite passing the ball 43 times, falling 13-0 to the Cougars in Lafayette.
In other games involving Teche Area teams Friday, West St. Mary earned its first win of the season, beating rival Franklin 34-28 in the annual "Fire On The Bayou" game; Erath suffered a 30-15 defeat at the hands of North Vermilion; and St. Martinville was shut out by Northside, 28-0.
On Thursday, Hanson lost to Vermilion Catholic, 28-0.
Loreauville 21, Jeanerette 12
At Loreauville, the Loreauville Tigers forced five second half turnovers to rally in the regular season finale for both teams.
Senior Jake Delcambre intercepeted two passes, freshman Jermaine Antoine intercepted one and the LHS defense forced two fumbles to help the home-standing Tigers finish the year 8-2 overall and 4-1 in District 6-2A.
The game, which was expected to be a duel between running backs B.J. Greene of Loreauville and Anthony Williams of Jeanerette, turned instead into a defensive battle as neither back rushed for more than 80 yards.
Greene had 78 yards and a touchdown on nine carries, Williams finished with 78 and a touchdown on 20 carries.
Jeanerette (7-3, 3-2) more than doubled Loreauville’s offensive output, 364-180, but six turnovers doomed the visiting Tigers.
Both teams are expected to make the Class 2A playoffs which begin next week. Loreauville may host a first round playoff game if the team has enough power points to be in the top 16, while Jeanerette will definitely be on the road next week.
E.D. White 35, Catholic High 21
Thomas Theriot returned the opening kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown, and CHS scored two TDs in a 22-second span of the opening quarter for a 21-0 lead, but E.D. White scored 35 unanswered to wrap up an undefeated district slate.
Troy Davis recovered a fumble for CHS that led to a five-yard touchdown run by Theriot, and the Cardinals fumbled the ball away on the ensuing kickoff while trying to execute a couple of handoffs, with Tyler Landry recovering at the 20. CHS made E.D. White pay immediately with a first-down touchdown pass from Taylor Bullock to Devin Boutte, making it a 21-0 game with 1:18 to go in the first period.
But a turnover with 20 seconds to go near midfield led to a 49-yard TD pass from Grant Chiasson to Tyler Thibodeaux after the first half expired, pulling the Cardinals to within 21-14.
A roughing the kicker penalty on the point-after forced CHS to kick off from its 20 to start the second half, and an offside penalty pushed the ball back five more yards, and EDW took advantage with a 39-yard, game-tying drive.
The Cardinals (9-1, 5-0) rushed for 293 yards and passed for 130 and limited CHS to 138 total yards. The Panthers had no first downs in the second half, while E.D. White fullback Dylan Ledet rushed for 121 of his game-high 135 yards in the second half.
Gueydan 28, Delcambre 22
At Delcambre, DHS rallied to tie the game at 22-22 on a 37-yard touchdown run by Jorey Renard in the second half, but Trevor Derouen scored on a 10-yard run in the fourth quarter to give Gueydan (9-1, 5-0) the outright District 7-A championship.
Delcambre (64, 3-2) could have earned a share of the league title with a win.
St. Thomas More 13, New Iberia 0
In Lafayette, Matthew Flores scored on an 11-yard run midway through the first quarter and Don Olivier kicked a pair of field goals to make it a 13-0 game at halftime, and the Cougars made it stand up by keeping New Iberia scoreless.
NISH quarterback Jordy Joseph completed 23 of 43 pass attempts for 184 yards, but his 11 yards on 10 carries led the Yellow Jackets in rushing as well.
Thomas Gumper led STM with 96 yards on 23 carries.
STM finished the season 7-3 overall and 4-0 in District 4-5A. NISH finished 7-3 and 1-3.
