Airport Board News Bewildered Flyboy Well aristocracy is still alive and well in Iberia Parish. Jimmy Shea, only a weekend pilot, born with a silver spoon in his mouth, easily shut out Denison and Squires for the Airport Board seat on Oct. 14. Denison, the incumbent with a bit of a renegade streak rooted in his visualizing the Airport Board as should be a more autonomous legal entity, was unjustly crucified by council members Broussard and Verret, as being the fall guy for all the problems with airport tenant AVEX. Denison was the most enthusiastic member on the airport board, and faithfully attended all board meetings, unlike many of the other members. He had invested thousands of his own money, traveling and testifying everywhere on behalf of aviation safety. Squires, quite an aviation activist and of whom is bringing millions of grant money to the Jeanerette Airport and whom has groomed strong inroads for the Jeanerette Airport at Louisiana DOT, carried votes only from the 2 Jeanerette council members. Squires also has repeatedly testified for aircraft safety on behalf of Acadiana Regional. Rumor has it that Broussard and Freyou put up Shea to run against Denison. You should have seen the Council members slobbering all over themselves extolling the virutes of Jimmy Shea to be on the airport board, when in fact he is not engaged or connected in aviation commerce and has made zero investments thereof. In my book Shea is only a mole or Trojan Horse for the landfill operator rooted in his public profession of confidence and support of expansion of the landfill. So money still rules in Iberia Parish. No matter what the grand efforts of Denison and Squires, Shea just walks in and shoplifts the spot right out from under them, despite no prior investments or contribution to aviation commerce on his part. It is clear the Council doesn't want free thinkers on the airport board and is not about to let the Airport Board develop itself into the autonomous legal entity it could be as is authorized by legislative statutes. The Council wants to keep close puppet strings on the airport board. So dance on the end of your puppet strings Shea, give us a good show for Freyou, Haney and all of your other rich buddies. Don't you know its illegal to shoplift?
