Westgate eliminated; Delcambre advances

MORGAN CITY -- The Westgate Lady Tigers’ run in the Division II volleyball playoffs ended after one game Thursday as Morgan City handed WHS a 22-25, 13-25, 25-23, 24-26 loss.

Danice Calvert led Westgate with 15 kills, 21 digs and two blocks. Senica Jones had 11 kills and 39 digs; Kaitlin Dooley added a kill, three digs and 11 blocks; Haley Comeaux had four kills and two digs; Brittani Stevens had a kill and 13 digs; Morgan Builliard had 29 assists, an ace and eight digs; and Whitney Touchet had an ace and 31 digs.

Westgate finished the season 14-17.

Morgan City will play Breaux Bridge in the second round.

Delcambre 3, Hosanna Christian 0

BATON ROUGE -- Hacie Stelly had nine kills and seven aces as Delcambre swept past Hosanna Christian 25-16, 25-14, 25-11 Thursday in the first round of the Division V playoffs.

Stelly also had an assist and four blocks as the Lady Panthers improved to 15-19 and advance to the second round, where they will play No. 1 seed ESA Monday at 6:30 p.m. for the right to advance to the state tournament.

Jenny Bouillion added nine kills, three aces and seven assists for Delcambre, the 17th seed in the tournament. Maci Terrebonne had a kill and three digs, Alex Trahan had six kills and four aces, Lauren Miguez added an ace, Alli Dunbar had six kills, Emily Leblanc had 20 assists and Shana Vincent had two kills and two blocks.

Kelli Kedroske led Hosanna (15-12) with seven kills and two blocks and Shelby Corsentino had an assist.

CHS match set

In other volleyball action, Catholic High’s opponent for the second round was determined Thursday as the No. 4 seed Lady Panthers will play No. 13 seed Iota, which beat No. 20 seed Fisher 25-8, 25-9, 25-19 in their first round game.

All second round games must be played by Monday.

The state volleyball tournament begins Thursday at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner.
