Landrieu a La. problem

Published/Last Modified on Sunday, November 1, 2009 6:10 AM CST

It really appears that Senator Landrieu has decided not to run for re-election.  I submit that her constant support of Obama, Polesi and Reed have really hurt her chances for re-election and I believe she knows it.  The latest episode in refusing the request of several state politicians to add a question to the 2010 census might just be the last knot in her noose.

Let us not forget that the census has always been about citizens of the United States and people of other lands possessed by the U.S.  I have census papers on my relatives dating back into the 1800’s and each form has a “citizenship” column on them.  No check marks were ever put in these columns because all my relatives were born in the U.S. or came through Ellis Island and gained their citizenships.  So once their place of birth was listed on the census, nothing else was recorded in the citizenship column.

But with millions of illegals now in our country, we must make sure they are not listed as citizens so political lines are not drawn based on these illegals, not to mention the cost to social security, the health system, etc.

Senator Landrieu continues to be a problem for her home state and it is time that she is replaced in favor of someone who puts Louisiana first!

" I will never understand democrats. How somone can praise another for taking money from somone who earned it, and giving it to people for electing them. Then get all religious, claiming they are fulfilling some moral obligation by helping the poor. With all the opportunities available in this country ,if you are poor(for most)it is no ones fault but your own. My family would be poor, if my wife and I didn't get up and go to work every day. Democrats motto, make everyone equal spread the wealth. Republican motto, keep what you work for. Charity is given not stolen. "

" I am in no way praising republicans, but you bring up a very good question...Why can't our state support itself without the federal government? Don't we contribute a significant portion of the nation's domestic oil and gas? Don't we supply over 30% of the nation's fisheries catch? Don't we have 5 of the nation's 15 largest ports? Don't we have one of the nation's major import terminals for natural gas?Don't we also have the nation's primary import terminal for foreign oil? OUR PROBLEM IS SPENDING & TAXES, RESULTING IN OUTMIGRATION OF THE TALENTED AND PRODUCTIVE. "

    " To "To Cajunator":
Your fascination and infatuation with Sen. Landrieu is a wonderful thing to see, but don't you think for one minute that maybe she's counting on those folks that "can't do for themselves" to stay poor and keep voting her in because she's quick to give a handout? Most of the ones that "can't do for themselves" sit at home, collect a check and are too lazy to get a job.

Democrats remain in power because of the masses that are dependent upon gov't entitlements. That's the truth..... "

" My point, most forum participants talk about the evil federal government, when in fact, your state is not able to support itself without government.
Mr. Frith attacks Senator Landrieu as not being good for the state, yet she's been able to help citizens who can't help themselves! Since your recent governors were Republicans, why is that?
The Republican mantra of making personal attacks on President Obama and his leaders is juvenile.
FYI, I am not, never been on ANY government assistance, don't need it! Been blessed enough to maintain my health, a job, insurance and take care of family. "

" Another Democrat: I can't tell if you are being facetious or not. Are those numbers supposed to make me proud? That would be like announcing to the world you've got Herpes as though you've won the lottery or something. Or more common, like bragging about how many food stamps you receive. "

You think just like other Democrats! HOW MUCH CAN WE GET!!!
How about what can we CUT from the budget and REDUCE SPENDING for a CHANGE????? How about a little SELF RELIANCE???? How about everyone PAYING their OWN way??? "

" Sen. Landrieu increased the amount Louisianans received from the federal government from $992 per person to $2691 in 2003. Federal spending increased at a faster rate than other states; Louisiana received $19.5 billion MORE from the federal government in 2003 than in 1996. From 2000 to 2003, Louisiana GOVERNMENT payments increased by 5.6 billion or 22 percent, while its CONTRIBUTIONS to the nations tax base actually DECLINED by $2 billion. So, while Mr. Frith and Mr. Gary voices their opposition to Senator Landrieu, 4 million other Louisianans may need to take a look at exactly WHAT she has done! "

" Please tell us what the public debt was when George W. Bush was elected by the SUPREME COURT in 2000; please tell us what the public debt was when he left the whitehouse this year? Please include the costs of both wars in Iraq and Afghanistan since these were never included in public debt but paid for as needed.
It's ingenious to blame the housing situation on the Democrats because, I guess, you are a Republican. ALL sectors of home financing was involved with bad loans;from the realtor, home inspector, lending institutions, etc. and they were not all Democrats! "

" Let's see, Bill Clinton was President when he pushed for sub prime mortgage loans for those that could not possibly afford it. Democrats.

Barney Frank and Christopher Dodd were in charge of committees overseeing these loans. Democrats.

The country has tripled our debt in a little over 10 months of, a Democrat, being elected President.

Exactly 0 jobs have been saved since all of the Democrats voted for this crap "stimulus package".

Yea, it's all the Republican's fault. Get a clue. "

" Oh, I just love it! The Dead People of New Orleans helped Landrieu steal the election against Jenkins? If that's the best argument Republicans have concerning the election, no wonder Louisiana's only elected one Republican Senator since Reconstruction. Try finding some real issue or a real candidate. Otherwise this is just truly pathetic whining. "

Observation wrote on Nov 4, 2009 12:18 PM:

" Since you possess a very basic--and very poor--history of the US government, here's an inconvenient truth for you. You say "Please remember who was in charge of the Congress for the past several years--your beloved Democrats." Actually, the Democrats have only controlled Congress since 2007. Your beloved Republicans controlled the House for 12 straight years (1995-2007) so if you think the country's a mess, I'd point at your beloved Republicans. Try learning some history; it might cover your lack of knowledge. "

Observation wrote on Nov 4, 2009 12:14 PM:

" Nice try, Chris Gary, but saying that she bought the vote doesn't make it so. Just keep on whining like most Republicans do. In three straight elections, you haven't put forward a candidate that has defeated her yet. Why don't you try facts once in a while? Must be a novel idea for you. "

Just because this New Iberia area has a different political leaning than she has, doesn't mean she's wrong for the state as a whole. Not once, not twice, but THREE times Louisianians elected her to be our senator. Don't overestimate the importance of your voice or the weight of your opinion. "

Sen. Landrieu has political interests in New York, California, Massachussetts and other liberal states and not with Louisiana. "

My beloved Louisiana voted for McCain/Palin!!! It is time to reevaluate the facts. Bush/Cheney tied us up in two wars and very nearly collapsed our entire economic system.

Let's support the democratic party so that we can undo the damage already created... And be patient!! "
