OK, GOP, whats the plan?

Published/Last Modified on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 2:10 PM CDT

The biggest joke going around the country today, in the debate over health care, is the Republican position that they have nothing against health care reform, they just want to ensure it is done right.

There was a period of some 16 years they controlled both houses of Congress. Did they propose any changes in health care? No-o-o-o. O.K., so they did not, but now they have a chance to live up to their position.

What IS the Republican plan? Or do we, and this is a little pay-back from the Clinton years, have to wait to find out what their definition of IS, is.

Listening to Republicans debate health xare I get the impression their philosophy is –– “This country has a government OF the People, BY the People, but not FOR the People, that would be Socialistic.”

“Oh what a tangled web we weave, when we practice to deceive.”

" That was a very convincing victory for the democratic party in NY. The thing is, why wasn't this talked about on Fox News? Aren't they supposed to be "Fair & Balanced"?
The republican party is imploding upon itself. GOP leaders attacked the republican candidate in NY and put in a patsy candidate to take her place.

I'm glad the crooked party lost... "

" The republican candidate dropped out, but her name still appeared on the ballot. If you consider the number of votes that she received, it would have been enough to put the conservative candidate over the top had her name not appeared on the ballot. Also, considering the fact that the conservative was virtually unknown, and was outspent 2:1, I'd like to know how the heck he came so close to winning, and why? "

What is your take on the decisive republican loss in the NY election last night? "

Furthermore, using your logic, would it be fair for me to say that the reason Democrats haven't included Tort Reform in any of their bills is because of their ambulance chasing trial lawyer donors? By the way, can you please point out any comment I've made that might be construed as hateful? Also, why didn't you post your comment using your usual alias? "

They also offered a list of 31 changes that would improve the Democrats' Health Care Bill, and sent a letter to Obama outlining areas of common-ground. "

" Republicans have offered ideas such as tort reform, allowing people to purchase insurance across state lines in a nationwide pool, allowing individuals/small businesses to pool together to purchase insurance the same way the labor unions do, more regulations on insurance companies, etc. None of these have been included in a single bill. The plan is, give all of your hard-earned money to the wealthy so that they may keep up their rich ways. As for the rest of us, well I guess we'll be having cake... "

" It does not matter that Democrats control both Congressional Houses. It is the responsibility of both parties, not just the one in power, to show that they DESERVE to have the power. If Republicans want to recapture the power, they need to show that even in adversity, they can provide a viable alternative, to explain what they would do to fix health care. The Republicans claim that they want to fix it, but not the way the Democrats are going to. Well, show me a viable plan, and we the people will restore you to power. "

The Republicans were never included in the CLOSED door meetings the Democrats were holding and still are holding!
You may like Socialism but it is contrary to how this country was set up.
I know how you like unions since you worked for them all your life and we know how much unions support the Democrats and Obama.
That's what your so upset. You support their agenda! "

" What difference does it make what the Republican plan is? Democrats could pass a bill without them. Democrats now dominate Congress and the White House. The fact is, it's only a handful of Democrats pushing this "public option", while several others will never support a bill with it. Republicans aren't the hold up here. Whatever happens with healthcare, will be entirely owned by the Democrats. Nothing "inherited". I'm more confused about what the Democrat plan is.They claim it's "competition","affordability",and"choices", but the CBO keeps proving otherwise. Can YOU tell me what the Democrat plan is? "

" Mr. Badeaux, this is a well written letter that describes the Republicans philosophy, or rather, lack of one. All the GOP appears to be doing is voting against anything that the Democrats propose, purely out of spite.
Hopefully they will come to their senses and start working for the betterment of America, instead of its detriment.
P.S. ~ thanks for your service to our great country... "
