Catholic High, Loreauville and Delcambre all rolled to big wins to set up key season-ending games next week, but the Westgate Tigers suffered a 10-7 loss to Comeaux in their season finale Friday night as the high school football season's ninth week wrapped up in the Teche Area.

Catholic High beat Berwick 41-6 Friday, setting up a showdown with District 6-3A leader E.D. White next week. If CHS can beat the Cardinals, the Panthers earn a share of the district title.

Loreauville shut out Sacred Heart to improve to 3-1 in district, with a game against in-parish rival Jeanerette, also 3-1 in district, up next.

Delcambre took its starters out after three series, but still beat first-year program Ascension Episcopal 37-6 on Friday, setting up a game with District 7-A leader Gueydan. DHS can earn a share of the district title with a win.

In other games involving Teche Area teams, New Iberia bounced back from consecutive losses to beat Terrebonne 30-25; Erath lost at Rayne, 12-6; Franklin suffered a 47-0 loss to E.D. White; and St. Martinville was shut out by Opelousas, 20-0.

On Thursday, it was Opelousas Catholic 24-0 over Jeanerette, Central Catholic 60-14 over Hanson and Patterson 49-0 over West St. Mary.

Catholic High 41, Berwick 6

At Catholic High, CHS rushed for 226 yards and quarterback Taylor Bullock threw for 178 yards and two touchdowns to help the Panthers improve to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in district. Patterson also is 6-3 and 3-1, while ED White is 8-1 and 4-0.

Brady Rogers ran for 37 yards and two touchdowns, and Bullock rushed for 34 yards and a TD for the Panthers.

Berwick's lone score came on an 89-yard run by Jarad Loston, who finished with a game-high 121 yards on the ground.

Loreauville 42, Sacred Heart 0

At Loreauville, the Tigers took a few more wraps off their Wildcat offense and purred to a District 6-2A over Sacred Heart-Ville Platte in the rain Friday night at Tiger Stadium.

Nick Julien, running the Wildcat some in the second quarter, scored on 54- and 49-yard gallops as Loreauville forged a 28-0 halftime lead over the Trojans. The sophomore ballcarrier finished with 109 yards on three carries in an offensive onslaught led by fellow Wildcatter freshman Jermaine Antoine, who had 121 yards on five carries. Loreauville’s B.J. Greene, a junior, also ran wild with 118 yards on 12 carries, including 9- and 10-yard touchdown runs in the second and third quarters, respectively.

Junior quarterback Ross Durke scored the only touchdown the team would need on a 26-yard run nearly three minutes into thef first quarter.

LHS placekicker Zachary Galatas was perfect on all seven PATs.

The Tigers are 7-2 overall, 3-1 in 6-2A.

Delcambre 37, Ascension Episcopal 6

At Delcambre, the Panthers celebrated homecoming by scoring on their first three possessions before pulling many of their starters.

Drey Landry scored touchdowns to cap each of Delcambre's first two possessions.

The Panthers improved to 6-3 overall and 3-1 in district. Gueydan, ranked fifth in Class A, is 8-1 and 4-0 heading into next Friday's game at DHS.

Comeaux 10, Westgate 7

At Lloyd G. Porter Stadium, Comeaux took advantage of a second-quarter fumble to go ahead 7-0 at intermission, and rushed 53 times to keep the potent Westgate offense off the field for much of the game.

Despite running only 28 offensive plays, Westgate still had a chance to win the game. Diontae Spencer pulled WHS to within 10-6 with a one-yard quarterback keeper, and the Tigers got into the red zone with under a minute remaining.

A third-down pass into the end zone fell incomplete, however, and running back Brandon Malveaux slipped while making the cut on fourth down, allowing Comeaux to escape with the win.

Westgate (5-4, 2-2) will likely be on the road in the first round of the playoffs. The Tigers have an open date next week.

Rayne 12, Erath 6

At Rayne, the Wolves earned their first win, winning in overtime.

Scott Curtis caught a 10-yard TD pass in overtime to help Rayne rally from a 6-0 halftime deficit. Erath took the lead on Cole Bourque's 49-yard TD run just before halftime.

Erath (3-6) closes out the regular season Friday at home against North Vermilion.

E.D. White 47, Franklin 0

In Thibodaux, Tyler Thibodeaux scored three touchdowns and Grant Chaisson had two to lead E.D. White (8-1, 4-0) to a shutout of Franklin in a District 6-3A game.

The seventh-ranked Cardinals led 28-0 after one quarter.

Franklin (2-7) plays host to West St. Mar next week to close out the season.

" I agree with Melinda..... I am a graduate from NISH some 20 years ago and what I notice is that NISH and Catholic always gets the publicity. My kids are zoned for Westgate, when they do reach high school level, but the only time that they are covered in an article is if they lose or they were the only game playing( Thursdays). I used to have a subscription to the DI but cancelled due to that being a big problem. Until they give the fair share to all our youths I will not subscribe again. "

" Come on DI, a very large percent of Loreauville resisdents subscribe to DI. Why cant LHS get a fair amount of coverage? The Tigers have had a great season, but the New Iberia teams get all the coverage. Why is that?? By the way, I dont live in Loreauville or New Iberia. "

" no they can not drive to loreauville...they only have film for NISH or Catholic High...sure seem fishy to me..after all it is not only NISH and CHS fans that read the DI..let's try to be fair... "

" Is it asking too much for a DI photographer to drive to Loreauville for a picture? Come on, shoot all the games or shoot none. "
