" My goodness. Stealers? Really? Are those the same thing as THIEVES? Do you people not realize what morons you make us look and sound like? Spelling, grammar, and punctuation are great things...when they're used. I can't help but wonder how many people read this forum and think that we're all really as retarded as "Electric Mist" made us out to be. I am a graduate of New Iberia Sr. High, and I know these things are taught in the curriculum. For gosh sake, USE THEM!!! "

" Yeah...let the police do their job AFTER my stuff gets stolen and pray I get it back at all, much less in working condition. No thank you. If you can deter a burglar (not talking about a trash can at the curb...talking about something in a closed shed...at night...where no one should be fooling with it at all), you should. Why should WE live in fear...it should be the dopeheads and theives that live in fear of US. Otherwise, we get no respect and should look forward to being stolen from. "

" I live in Coteau too, and it is not just property getting stolen, I had a peeping tom at my house....caught him and gave him a warning....If I caught him again, I had a bullet with his name on it....people today just don't care! There is no respect for people, someone else's property, etc.this is what happened when Uncle Sam got involved and scared people from disciplining their children..put God back in our schools, especially in our families, and let parents discipline their children, not beat them, just a good old fashion butt whippin' and make them accountable fortheiractions! "

To Deter Crime wrote on Oct 30, 2009 1:44 PM:

" No but what you are saying is that some tactic which could injure some innocent visitor, or other family member such as an electric fence, etc, is an appopriate method to deter crime. You must have forgotten about the guy who wired his garbage can from an outlet because kids were vandalizing it at the curb. All he did was eloctrocute some kid and was charged with involuntary manslaughter. Let the cops do their jobs; that's what they are trained to do. "

Deter Crime wrote on Oct 30, 2009 6:40 AM:

" I never said anything about wielding guns or being vigilantes...I merely suggested some simple crime deterants that could potentially incapacitate a burglar should he happen upon them. You need to learn about "per capita"and ratios. New Iberia has a much larger population than Coteau...of course the crime is higher. And what's wrong with people wanting to protect their homes and possessions. The law can only do so much and these dopeheads have no respect for us...why should we wait for anyone to help us? That's the trouble with the U.S. We've gotten "soft". "

To Deter Crime wrote on Oct 29, 2009 6:29 PM:

" Now that's what we need. A bunch of viglianties running around weilding guns. As for the guy who said they are too busy running around New Iberia; you need to check the crime rate. There is as much or more stealing in New Iberia as there is in Coteau. Anyways, last time I checked New Iberia was paying for police protection from our Sheriff. Get real. "

" The Coteau community can come together and beat these rascals....if you can catch someone in the act of stealing, you can bust it wide open. I don't know about you, but stepping into an old fashioned bear trap or a nail board or an electric fence on a booby trapped 4 wheeler in the middle of the night when you're trying to be quiet might not be so pleasant. It might even be fun for the neighborhood to catch a guy crawling around in pain, begging people to call the cops. "

Listen to this my dad picks pecans puts them in bowls in his shed and they have someone everynight that goes in the shed and steals them. Freakin pecans go pick some why steal that. I agree with crazy security is the best. "

" I have lived in coteau all my life and i now hate it. I hate thieves first off. If its not yours, then don't touch it. If you can't afford your own then you don't need it. Get a JOB and maybe you wouldn't have so much free time to spy on things that are not yours. I had things stolen from me also, but Im ready for them now. Watch dogs and security are great. Forget the police and everyone else, do it yourself, thats the only help you will get. "

" We have the local drug cartel running around here and the law won't even stop them. What I do is write down vehicle license plate numbers and description. If anything is stolen, at least I have some description of likely culprits. We should all be watchful of strange vehicles, because the sheriff patrol is too busy with City of New Iberia. "

" We had TWO 4 wheelers stolen AND a 3 wheeler. My husband found them on Armentor Road. The boy who stole them lived in New Horizons and still does. We were never able to recover the 3 wheeler even though they had pictures of if and it was still there just becuase the brat refused to admit he stole it. He was prosecuted but his accomplices were NEVER PROSECUTED! "

" There was an incident last night in New Horizons. Not sure all the details but someone was cut and the two guys that did it were trying to get away speeding threw here. Some of the tenants chased them down the road, their car stalled and they ran into the cane fields. The police were called, Ackal was even here. The two guys were caught and the car was taken. Lot of crime in Coteau lately. Ackal and the officers that came did a great job. "

" We also had a four wheeler stolen from us on the Coteau Road, finally after 1 year we were able to get it back, and as for all the new traaffic, it is because of that new bar that opened up on the Coteau Road right next to my home, boy what a mess "

" Over the past 6 months, someone broke into numerous cars on our road in Coteau as well and we have noticed unknown cars just sitting at the end of the street. They don't belong and don't live here, and when calling the police about suspicious cars by the time they pass by an hour later its gone. Those jerks even tried to take a go cart out of a back yard shed. We need to watch out for our neighbors!! All of us! "

" Thats been going on for a while, They probably had been watching it for a week of so, lined up a few more things to steal that night and made it all in one pass. By the time you woke up the next morning that 4 wheeler was most probably in Mississippi or Texas, the buyer already knew how is how obtained. I have noticed a lot of strange vehicle traffic in Coteau lately, like delivery vehicles and company vehicles that dont do business anywhere near coteau driving around, They are looking... "

" Ours was stolen out of our shed off of loreauville road a couple of years ago. Thought we would never get it back. A week later it showed up in "four corners" in Glencoe. Franklin detectives matched the SN and called us. Minor damage ($300 for a new ignition). So what I am saying is don't give up hope. "
