Book sale good for everyone

Two weeks from today marks the beginning of the Friends of the Iberia Parish Library Book Sale.

One of the best orchestrated fundraisers in Iberia Parish, this year’s three-day sale should continue that tradition when things kick off with the special Friends Only Preview Sale from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 6.

Those who don’t want to join the Friends organization can shop until they drop from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 7 and from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 8.

Anyone who makes their way to the Cyr-Gates Community Center will have more than 10,000 items to choose from, including thousands of books and a choice of records, CDs, VHS series the library is discontinuing and books on tape.

“It’s going to be the best book sale we’ve ever had,” event chairwoman Connie Comeaux declared in Thursday edition of The Daily Iberian.

Comeaux may be right because the best thing about this sale isn’t quantity or quality; it’s the price. Paperback books average about 25 cents each, while hardbacks start at $1.

Those prices simply can’t be topped, especially when considering all the great stories, biographies and others genres offered.

Calling the event a win-win doesn’t do it justice.

It’s a reader’s dream sandwiched around a fundraiser for the library.
