Delcambre beats FRA, 39-14

NEW ROADS -- Tyler Hotard and Drey Landry each had more than 100 yards and two touchdowns rushing the ball as Delcambre opened the 2009 football season with a 39-14 win over False River Academy Friday.

Hotard had 106 yards and touchdown runs of 13 and two yards, Landry added 100 yards and touchdown runs on 13 and three yards for the Panthers, who had 371 total yards rushing in the contest.

After a scoreless first quarter, Delcambre outscored FRA 20-7 in the second. The Gators cut the lead to 20-14 in the third but DHS scored 19 fourth quarter points to pull away.

Jorey Renard added 67 yards and two scores for Delcamre, which plays host to Delcambre Friday.

Brad Guillory had 107 yards and a touchdown for False River.

Welsh 56, Loreauville 27

WELSH -- Will Guidry rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns as Welsh blew past Loreauville 56-27 Friday.

Dylan Hebert added a 74 yard touchdown run and Casey Trahan had a 54 yard interception return for a score for the Greyhounds.

After leading 8-6 at the end of the first quarter, Welsh outscored Loreauville 48-21 the rest of the way for its first win of the season and in the process rushed for 442 yards.

The Tigers also hurt themselves with two fumbles and an interception.

B.J. Greene rushed for 150 yards and all three touchdowns for the Tigers, scoring on runs of 24, 8 and 59 yards.

Ross Durke completed 7-of-17 passes for 96 yards with Tre Chiasson catching four balls for 63 yards.

Loreauville plays host to Hanson Friday.
