Panthers, Highland set for Thursday games

Two teams looking to end losing streaks take to the field Thursday night to open prep football this week.

Delcambre Hign, coming off of last week’s 14-7 loss to Loreauville, play host to North Central High Thursday at DHS while Highland Baptist, which lost 38-32 to Natchitoches Christian last week, tries to halt a two game skid when the Bears play host to Harvest Time Christian from Abbeville at NISH.

The Panthers (2-2) play their last non-district game of the year Thursday before opening District 7-A play next week against Hanson.

Tyler Hotard (302 yards rushing) and Jorey Renard (299 yards) have formed a potent one-two punch for the Panthers with fullback Drey Landry (259 yards) not far behind.

North Central (0-4) has been blown out of the last three games it has played, topped off by a 48-0 loss to Ville Platte last week and a 46-6 loss to Port Barre two weeks ago.

Harvest Time at Highland Baptist

The Bears, currently 2-4 in Louisiana Christian School Athletic Association play, are trying to avenge a 51-0 loss to Harvest Time in week two.

With the loss last week, the Bears and Natchitoches Christian are both tied for fourth place in the LCSAA with identical 2-4 marks. The top four teams in the the league advance to the playoffs.

Breaux Bridge Christian sits atop the league with a perfect 6-0 mark while Harvet Time and Acadiana Home School are tied for second with 4-2 marks.

New Orleans Home School Saints are last with an 0-6 record.
