Melancon vs. Vitter

Published/Last Modified on Sunday, September 27, 2009 6:09 AM CDT

So, Charlie Melancon is challenging David Vitter because he thinks we need a more bipartisan representation in Congress?  Let’s see, if Mary Landrieu is re-elected and Charlie is elected instead of Mr. Vitter that makes two democrats as Senators.  That’s not bi-partisan by any stretch of the imagination.  Maybe Charlie is thinking about the outstanding number of Republicans representing Louisiana’s electorate in Congress, but still, the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate are two completely different bodies of Congress, or doesn’t Charlie understand that?  Perhaps Charlie has spent too much time amongst the Washington elitist “royalty”. Perhaps Charlie is not familiar with the U.S. Constitution since he follows Nancy Pelosi so closely that if she stops suddenly, Charlie will likely damage his nose.  His rhetoric and his actions just don’t match, but then again, that is typical of most democrats.  I can’t wrap my mind around one single good reason to support a liberal democrat running for office, any office, especially this man who refuses to hold any Town Hall Meetings in his district to explain his voting record to the voters who put him in office.  Charlie is as much a blue-dog democrat as I am a yellow-dog liberal.  Louisiana simply cannot afford another term of Charlie Melancon’s tendencies to vote however the liberal leadership in Congress dictates how this “Washington Insider” (his own words) should vote.  If you cannot explain yourself to your own District, Charlie, what in the world are you thinking when you try to represent the whole state?  Louisiana is the fourth most conservative state in this great nation, according to a recent poll.  Perhaps you should just withdraw your candidacy and save yourself the embarrassment.  When you challenge your opponent’s ethics I would be very careful because that dog bites both ways.  Your twisted rhetoric is easily construed as unethical if not downright fraudulent, and most folks in Louisiana are already angry as all get out.
