ST. MARTINVILLE — U.S. Sen. David Vitter paid a visit Monday morning to Louisiana System Built Homes to tour the facility and speak with its workers and employers.

Louisiana System Built Homes employee Katrina Collette said Vitter, R-Metairie, was “very impressed” with the factory and the variety of homes the company is building.

The company has been praised by local, state and federal officials for its affordable and energy-efficient homes, and also for the company expanding so quickly in the wake of hurricanes Katrina and Rita, which hit the Gulf Coast in 2005.

U.S. Sen. DAvid Vitter, second from right, listens Monday as company founder and Chairman of the Bard Aubrey Shoemake, Louisiana System Built Homes Presdient and CEO John Stege and company representative John Landry, far right, speak about Louisiana System Built Homes' role in the Teche area. “He wanted to let us know what a fine job we’re doing, and to let us know he’ll do anything he can to back our company,” Collette said. “It’s an awesome, awesome thing to be involved in.”

" To Ricochet: Sorry about the misspelled word. I was on an unfamillar computer, at the hospital with my Mom. (after 3 strait days and nights at the hospital you're not to sharp.) Also I am not a Republican, I am a registered Democrat. Vitters indiscretions were a very long time ago and he did come home to have townhall meetings. He took questions from the audience and answered them.( they were not hand picked, because he answered mine) Thats more than Melancon did. Having voted for him,I felt he should care enough to address my concerns. "

" Hey Jan: News flash---Clinton was impeached for improper sexual behavior and the cover up. I think that means that people found it unacceptable (or as you would say--unexceptable[sic]. --why can't Republicans spell???) People keep bringing up Vitter's indiscretions becasue he is a brazen, flaming hypocrite and that makes him unfit to serve as US Senator. He also cares nothing about the regular people in this country and espouses the values of the wealthy elite. "

" Why when Vitter is doing his job, people continue to bring up his indiscretions? Why was Cllinton's indiscretions, followed by him denying it with his hand on the Bible exceptable behavior? Vitters indiscretions were a long time ago, is the man ever to be forgiven? "
