If you enjoy laugh-out-loud comedies, you’re likely to enjoy Moon Over Buffalo being staged by the folks at IPAL at the Essanee Theater.
The Iberia Performing Arts League has found another great script and another talented cast of local people that combine to offer a great evening of entertainment. Wife Gladys and I attended Friday’s performance and it was lots of fun.

There are a ton of great lines, lots of movement and action and a most entertaining story. There are more performances scheduled for at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Sept. 18 and Sept. 19 and matinees at 3 p.m Sunday and Sept. 20.
It’s a lot of fun.
Don’t miss it.
Monday was Labor Day. I hope you had the day off and did something fun, or at least enjoyed the chance to relax a bit.
I found an interesting quote that seemed appropriate for Labor Day: “Sometimes it’s important to work for that pot of gold. But other times it’s essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow,” — Douglas Pagels, “These Are the Gifts I’d Like to Give to You.”

I expected the ULL game against Southern to have a good crowd but have to admit I was surprised to read more than 41,000 fans turned out for the game, setting a new attendance record.
I think the previous attendance record was something like 38,000 when ULL played Texas A&M some years back. And interestingly, the stadium only seats something like 31,000.
One of the good things about Louisiana teams playing other Louisiana teams is how it makes it easier for fans to travel to the away games. Last year’s ULL game against McNeese saw a big crowd.
Southern’s fans have a reputation for following their team in good numbers to away games, referred to as the Jaguar Nation. I saw a bunch of Jaguar flags flying on cars around New Iberia Saturday, before the game.
I am glad LSU doesn’t play West Coast teams very often as staying up until 1 a.m. Sunday to watch the end of the game against Washington was tough.
I saw former Teche Area stars, now playing for LSU, Mitch Joseph, Josh Dworaczyk, Harry Coleman and Ryan St. Julien during the broadcast.
You see in the news from time to time reports on when the then oldest living person in the world or in the U.S. dies.
The other day I spotted a first for me when I saw a news item about the world’s oldest dog passing away.
The report told about a wire-haired dachshund that had recently passed away at age 21 — 147 in dog years. The dog, named Chanel, died recently in Long Island, New York. She had a reputation around her hometown, as she wore tinted goggles to help her battle the cataracts she’d developed, and she wore sweaters because she was sensitive to cold.
