Darlene Doiron of the class of ’66 informed me that our fellow “nun in training” in the class of ’66 at Lacombe and a graduate of Mount Carmel High,’66, Libby Dahlstrom, who was the only one that took vows and became a real nun, had a triple heart bypass and is doing well under the care of Sister Donna Girard from New Iberia who is putting her nursing skills to work. Donna will have to be on her toes. Libby got to be a Mother Superior or something real important like that. We know Donna is the right one for the job. Libby is first rate and I don’t think we could find anyone who could say anything bad about her. We get the good ones, once in awhile. Get well wishes can be sent to, Sister Libby Dahlstrom, 8501 Bailey Road, Darien IL 60561.

The Bourque kids and their dad, Tony Sr., were happy to show us all their purchases. The Bourques were all smiles as they picked out uniforms and supplies for the first day of school. Mary Beth, 9, and Danielle, 12, will be at Center Street Elementary and Tony Jr., 16, will be at New Iberia Senior High. Shilay Comeaux and daughter Savaughn, 10, who will attend Sugarland Elementary, were also preparing for the first day of school and stocking up on supplies and uniforms. Shanequa Ozzene and daughter Dalijahnae, 9, who is in third grade at Sugarland and her son, Danvontae, 14, who will attend seventh grade at Anderson, got busy shopping on their beginning of school list. Everyone will look good in those brand new uniforms.

Enter Cliff Williams of Impressive Cuts and Beauty Salon who has been giving free haircuts to kids going back to school for four years. I hope to have more about this later. I want to share the story behind Cliff and his commitment to service. I hear more than 100 boys and girls were treated to new haircuts and styles.
Teachers, you may not recognize some of your students. They are looking good.
