I'm sure some of you may have experienced the same things I have but I bet there are some that have no idea how some people live off the backs of hard working people. Planting season was always a very stressful time for us. You have a small window of time to get your seed cane in the ground before grinding starts. You have to deal with weather related problems, breakdowns, etc., but when you have to top that off with lazy people with no work ethic it will drive you batty. Don't get me wrong, I know it's hot and dusty work, but that's why we could not be to particular on who we hired. This is where the people I want to tell you about come into play. A great deal of these individuals have the system beat. They either get an SSI check for some disability they are supposed to have or get a "crazy" because of some "socalled" mental problem. They either will only work for cash or want you to make their check on a relative's name. I got so tired of playing their games it prompted me to give up a job I loved. I'm talking of both white and black individuals.
This brings me to respond to some of the posts in the forum lately. The individuals purchasing food on our dime are some of the same people I am refering to. Don't get me wrong, we as society need to help the less fortunate. There really are some people that can't fend for themself. It is our duty to help these people or to help those that come into hard times till they get back on their feet. The people I refered to previosly work the system to their advantage. There needs to be drastic reform to the welfare system. If you test positive for drugs "no soup for you". You keep having a litter of kids, none of whom have the same father, "no soup for you". You take a mandatory physical and pass but wont work, "no soup for you".

I think this man has mental problems. Look at his upbringing. He never had a stable family life. His biological dad was a no show. He was shuffled from one country to another. He was raised by his grandmother. He attended liberal universities. He made friends with terrorists. Made deals with crooks. Won his first elections by disquallifying his opponents. Filled his cabinet positions with tax cheats. Some say we can't scutinize him for fear of being called racists. I say b---s---. I personally have ancestors from Germany who never owned slaves. I truthfully can say I never did one thing to anyone of a different race. Can't say the same for me. When I was 14 years old I was attacked by 3 black thugs requiring a trip to the emergency room for stitches. Still I never held a grudge. I treat blacks just as I treat others. But some of you black people need to get a life. Stop blaming whites for all of your problems. There are people coming to the U.S. from all sorts of countries with little but the shirts on their back. With hard work and some luck they make something of themselves. I'm sick and tired of all the excuses. Get an education, get a job, and get a life. Just don't come in my house and try and take what I busted my butt for. I'll have a 40 for you, and I don't mean a beer! GET AN EDUCATION, GET A JOB, AND GET A LIFE!

This is a forum for discussing local issues. This can be done without questioning the character of the person who gives their opinion. If you don't see the problems that are instilled in a large majority of black Americans today, then I don't know what else to say to you. Cutter is addressing the relationship between our government and a large portion of the black population. It is a terrible, terrible, relationship because it is killing the work ethic of many people. I believe that people should take control of their own destiny. "

Tone ?? Since when do we start labeling people because of the tone in which they say things. The man is making a "point". Instead of discussing the point, you give it a short life by playing the race card. It's all too typical, and a huge reason why nothing gets solved. Problem is identified and rather than admit some problems and create a plan (more work and pain), you'd rather just discredit the source by ASSUMING he has harmful intent by the tone in his delivery. I don't mean to be offensive, but your comments seem really shallow. You are so much on the surface when there is a whole other world of social, economic, cultural, and genetic levels to race relations in Amercia. You are just touching on the emotional side of it. It's not as easy as you make it. One of the major problems are the blacks not having trust in the whites and harboring anger towards the whites. You can't move forward if you harbor resentment in your heart. That's huge!! "

Then, I offer you a deal. Pick a green jelly bean or something bad will happen to you. Now, you have to judge. Do I want to gamble my well-being at 25/75 deficit ratio?? Just saying, to me, that's a jar of red jelly beans with a few green ones. "

The author is making the point that a large portion of blacks use the welfare system. Did you know that ~38% of welfare recipients are white and ~37% are black? But, given the fact that there are ~260 million whites and ~42.5 million blacks in America, AND that there are ~37 million people on welfare. That means that 32% of blacks are on welfare and 5.4% of whites are on welfare. Some people will try to point out the 38% versus 37% and stop there. "
