The Bears fell 32-0 to Harvest Time Christian in the first game of the jamboree, then dropped an 8-6 decision to Acadiana Home School in the final game of the jamboree.
Against Harvest Time, Zach Fleming led the team with 16 yards rushing and completed two passes to Andrew Jordan for seven yards.

The second game was a heartbreaker for the Bears as Acadiana Home School scored on the last play of the game and made the 2-point conversion to pull out the 8-6 win.
Fleming again was the leading rusher for Highland with 41 yards but didn’t complete a pass in the contest. He scored Highland’s only touchdown on a 14-yard run.
Alex Romero had an interception for the Bears while Jordan and Seth Warner each had solo tackles.
“I think that in the second game we showed energy in the way we played and hopefully we can keep that going into the regular season,” said HBCS coach Artie Liuzza. “The interception fired everyone up and Zach Fleming made a long run that got everyone excited.”
Heading into the season opener, Liuzza said he thinks his team still needs to work on the basics.
“What we need to work on is blocking and tackling,” said Liuzza. “When we only have 16 players at practice, it’s hard to get a lot of work in, so that’s why we need to play as many games as we can.
“We’re going to get better, we just have to stay at it and play more games.”
HBCS opens the regular season Thursday, playing host to Natchitoches Christian at New Iberia Senior High starting at 5 p.m.
