AGL Resources/Jefferson Island Storage and Hub has not been and is not a good neighbor. We have documented evidence of the devious methods used to reach their objective for storage of natural gas. We have not distorted our information, we have been direct, open and honest.
There are over 1,000 salt domes in Louisiana. None became the “Swirling Vortex” on the History

OUR drinking water will be affected. Our opponents say everything is just fine, they don’t have to worry about wells running dry, or that everyone’s drinking water is rich with salt!
In 1999 Argonne National Laboratory reported groundwater contamination from leaking caverns had “only very low concentration” contamination. Weeks Island Salt Dome caverns leaked oil into the Gulf, both Cote Blanche should not and Napoleanville has major cavern issues.
We still don’t know what causes the bubbling in Lake Peigneur, although we have a pretty good idea, and with all the information provided the citizens are still ignored!
I can’t think of one member of Save Lake Peigneur who isn’t involved in the energy industry in some capacity. There are choices. AGL/JISH did not have to dredge, they dredged because of their planned expansion. Why did they refuse our request to have an open question and answer session for the public?
They requested and received an extension until June 2010 for sonar and mechanical integrity testing for Well (cavern) No. 1 (one). Prior sonar indicated Cavern 1 has anomalies. The wells must be full in order to complete the testing. Therefore the response by Richard Hyde that a shortage of gas during hurricane season was the reason not to have the well tested is pure spin. If the cavern has another product to maintain why do we need more caverns?
Economics. AGL/JISH will have perhaps ten permanent employees. Live Oak and Rip Van Winkle Gardens employs more than one hundred. The state receives income, property, sales tax each year from these residents. How much are 4000 residents worth? How much is one person worth?
AGL/JISH has spent millions of dollars fighting us, when if they had chosen ethically, their millions could have established a safer and appropriate location for natural gas storage.

It doesn't take very much to be smarter than DNR, no matter that they do this all day.
Anyone that can make the statement "off the record" that the bubbling in the lake is caused by fish feeding from the shrimp and crab shells flowing from shrimp shops in Delcambre. They don't do very much, besides sit behind a desk all day.
As for your friends not working, I know of several places that are hiring if they are interested. "

The DNR does this all day long. I'm sure if there was an issue, they would see it before you. Why don't you back off and let progress happen? We need the drilling contracts for this area. Several of my buddies haven't worked in some time. This would be a much needed economic boost, but you are stalling it. "
Shape Edge Knife wrote on Aug 31, 2009 3:17 AM:
lame excuse they gave. They don't want DNR to have the results of the integrity testing. Therefore no testing, no proof. "
Rousseau wrote on Aug 24, 2009 10:42 AM:
Your logic is that a Georgia-based company is getting favored over lifetime Louisiana residents in "Good ol' boy" politics. Further, the DNR granted an extension to test their caverns because of evidence the caverns may be unstable.
The causes you give would logically lead to the exact opposite effects. Wouldn't a "good ol' boy" system favor the "ol' boys"? And wouldn't evidence of instability be grounds to NOT grant an extension?
How do you explain the cause/effect relationship implied in your posting? It's still not adding up for me. "

The governor will not "sell out" the residents of Lake Peigneur. Now, the attorney representing the state, Bernie Boudreaux, may very well attempt to "sell out" the residents. He allegedly has that reputation but we are watching him!
"We the people" love it here that is why we are fighting!!!!!!!!! "

I used to work for the government myself and there's one thing I've learned. Always question authority. "

It may be the "good ole` boy" politics may be coming to an end for AGL. Governor Jindal has given his word he is in support of Save Lake Peigneur and he will not waiver, the argument is the same. He is committed to protecting the residents of Lake Peigneur and the preservation of the Chicot Aquifer. He will not "sell out" the residents of Lake Peigneur! "

Still no answer to my question. If the caverns are as unsafe as Nara Crowley claims, why does the DNR allow them to stay in service? Why would AGL be granted an extension for testing given Nara's claims of unsafe conditions?
Pursuade me with your logic. "

For people who claim to be on the side of angels, you sure do present yourselves like a couple of bullies.
What do real names have to do with online commentary? If your position is as strong as you claim, it shouldn't matter if questions come at you anonymously or otherwise.
My main question after reading this is around your claims of the wells being unsafe. If what you say is true, why would the DNR allow the wells to stay? Wouldn't they shut them down? It just doesn't add up. "

We have invited AGL to meet on the Jeff Bougs show 1240 KANE but as of yet no one has responded.
Maybe you would like to represent AGL and we could have a friendly discussion.
At AGL's last public meeting at Jefferson Island many questions were unanswered and AGL was support to get back to us with answers and we are still waiting.RnLGn

Everyone striving to protect the lake are connected in some way to the energy industry. We certainly have nothing against the industry or business.
If you are interested, which I don't believe you are, but in the event I am wrong, you are welcome to respond with your name and we will be happy to meet with you to present facts. "

I feel kind of bad because you are making this too easy on me. I'd like to point out that I am aware enough to know how to spell "naive".
Also, still no facts from the opposition. This is still just NIMBY'ism. If you are concerned about how this project will affect you, why not ask questions from the experts. You may or may not believe them, but Mrs. Crowley is not an expert. She has no qualifications or background in the business, and simply stirs emotion to make her points. "

You claim AGL know's how to operate their business, that's fine, please be advised Lake Peigneur residents know how to operate & protect what is vital to them. AGL has met their match!
If AGL is such a "good neighbor" why are they hiding the fact that cavern #1 has anomalies? Why did they request an extension to doing the sonar & mechanical integrity testing for one year on cavern #1? Answer...leaks!! "

What's getting old is AGL's non-strategic methods in attempting to piece-mill this project. To suggest they know how to operate their business, lets see, there is a lawsuit from the parish for non-payment of taxes in an enormous amount and the state has a lawsuit against them. That surely equates to good business operating practices! "Spoon," you need to STOP immediately! "
