McNeese State University seniors Derrick Fourroux, Toddrick Pendland, Wes Mangan, Casey Richter, Brandon Broussard, Immanuel Friddle and Deron Minor, along with junior Terrance Freeman and sophomore Darrell Jenkins, have been named to the 2009 Southland Conference preseason all-conference football teams which was announced Wednesday at the league’s football media day at the L’Auberge du Lac Resort in Lake Charles.
Fourroux, an Erath native and starting quarterback for the Cowboys, was named to the first team along with tailback Pendland, tight end Mangan and offensive tackle Richter. Fullback Broussard, wide receiver Friddle, linebacker Monor, defensive end Freeman and defensive back Jenkins were named to the second team.
Pendland was the conference offensive player of the year in 2008 and an Associated Press second-team All-American, setting the program’s single-season rushing record with 1,431 yards, the sixth best total in the nation.
Fourroux has a 24-10 record as the Cowboys’ starting signal caller, throwing for 5,749 yards and 44 touchdowns and rushing for 1,374 yards in his career.
