A native and lifelong resident of Jeanerette, he died Wednesdasy, July 22, 2009, at the Iberia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Clifton was a veteran of the U.S Navy and a U.S Postal Carrier for 47 years. In 1964 he became the first African American postal employee in the city of Jeanerette, prior to that he was a postal carrier in Oakland, Calif. Clifton was well known, respected and loved by all who knew him. Along with the mail, he always carried a warm smile a joyful attitude and a heartfelt greeting. Clifton Davison “Our Postman” will truly be missed.
He is survived by four sons Barry N. Davison of Baton Rouge, Barron K. Davison of Four Corners, Gregory (Tanya) Davison of Baton Rouge and Shawn L Davison of Lydia; two daughters Yolanda (Larry) M. Brown of Broken Arrow, Okla. and Gena Davison of Lydia; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren,

Pallbearers will be Ronald Moore, Wade Clark Jr., Eric Metz, Arthur Derouen III, Herman Mitchell and Darrell Mitchell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Barron L. Davison, Wade Clark Sr., Raymond Bosman Sr., Thomas Samuel, Thomas Newman Sr. and Larence Brown Jr.
In lieu of flowers the family request all memorials be forwarded to Ms. Ethel D. Manuel via The Alex Lovett Funeral Service Inc.
