JEANERETTE — A Going Home Celebration will be held for Emma Barabin Borel, 70, on Saturday, July 25, 2009, at 1 p.m. at St. Peter United Methodist Church in Jeanerette, with Rev, Eugene Hebert officiating.

She will await the resurrection in St. Peter United Methodist Church Cemetery, Jeanerette.

A gathering of family and friends will be at the church from 7 a.m. until the time of service.

Mrs. Emma “Mama Bell” Borel, daughter of the late Viola Edwards and Richard Barabin, was born on Oct. 15, 1932, in Jeanerette. She was baptized at an early age at St. Peter United Methodist Church where she served as a faithful member.

Mama Bell departed this life on July 19, 2009, at 6 a.m. at her home in the comfort of her family. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, a loving companion Harry Golden and a grandson MaQuinnitta Borel that they raised as their own; two sons Ronald (Yvonne) Francis and Dwan (Ida) Borel of Franklin; seven daughters Mercelene (Harold) Rener, Wanda (Samuel Jr.) Wise, Cathy Narcisse and Madelyn Robertson of Jeanerette, Debra (Micheal) Guy Sr. of Tomball, Texas, Melissa Borel and Bill Midford of Arlington, Texas, and Cynthia Anderson (Floyd Day) of Grand Prairie, Texas; one son-in-law Micheal Anderson of Jeanerette; one godchild Rev. Arthur Lee Jones; two sisters-in-law Mercedes Borel Bennett of Thibodeaux and Shirley Boykin of Franklin; 42 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She joins in glory with her husband, Herbert L. Borel, one son Rongernick Borel; one son-in-law Charles Robertson; her parents, Viola Edwards and Richard Barabin; her grandparents, Lizzie and Richards Edwards; one brother Albert Edwards, two grandchildren Terrell Borel and Rhokeisha Charles; and five great-grandchildren Shawn Anderson Jr., Jasmain Viola Anderson, Darrien Anderson Jr., Soddrick Syrae Little, Tydran Syrae Little; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; a stepfather Lincoln Joseph.

Active pallbearers will be Harold Rener III, Bobby Madison, Micheal Guy Jr., Samuel Wise III, Shawn Anderson, Terrence Edwards, DeJohn Robertson Jr. and Shawn Anderson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Francis, Harold Rener, Micheal Guy Jr., Bill Midford, Delane Robertson Jr., Dwan Borel, Samuel Wise Jr., Floyd Day, Wash Bennett and MaQuinnitta Borel.
