Hurricane Chris performs for the state

I saw nothing wrong with Hurrican Chris performing for the state as he did this past week. I attend meetings for my job onb a regular basis and from time to time we have entertainment so why can't these people have entertainment during their meeting? Is is because he was a young, black, rapper? If he were a white cowboy hat wearing young white man singing a country song, nothing would have been said I am almost 100% sure. Hurricane Chris presented himself nicely. He was wearing a suit, he didn;t have his pants halfway down his butt as he could have. I think people just have to have something to complain about. Job well done Rep Norton. And besides she was giving her god child a chance, something white people have been doing for their own for decades.

Besides, the legislators might "corrupt" Hurricane Chris. He probably fit right in. "

You don't have to get one, but you're going to see them. You don't have to listen to it, but you're going to hear it! "

" You have to wonder what's going through the minds of the reps who had no idea of what to expect when Hurricane Chris stepped up to the mic and started talking. I'm sure many of them thought, "What kind of circus did I join here? Who is this guy and why is he here?" I got no problems with singers at a microphone, but even Hurricane Chris should've known better to do a song like that in front of our legislature. The fact is he didn't. That's why it was stupid and it made us all look stupid. "

" I listened to the song and looked at the lyrics on Lyrics.com, and Honestly I was disgusted! The lude lyrics are just ridiculous. Whomever is "proud" of "Hurricane Chris" as he calls himself, needs to really take a second look in the mirror. The "lyrics" these so-called rappers come up with are stupid and pointless. Music today is going down the drain. "

" To John Burton: You obviously are missing the point, and have not had a chance to know the lyrics of this disgusting excuse of a song. The only possible outcome of this exposer is that this is a troubled young man. He wants to commit adultry( Halie is married and to him she and all women are just a piece of meat) and he cusses up a storm ( his prominent education) Yea, he's something to be proud of, alright. But I guess he fits right in with the best representation money can buy. "

John Burton wrote on Jul 3, 2009 6:20 PM:

" After watching this video, I have to ask myself, WHY. Why is this kid being invited to sing in front of our House? This isn't an entertainment forum, so "why"? I personally believe that this is an effort to expose this young man to some powerful people. I would bet that this young man has aspirations beyond rapping and his aunt is paving the way.. I personally don't think rapping was a smart choice of approach. Seems he could have gotten up and spoke to get his point across. "

John Burton wrote on Jul 3, 2009 6:01 PM:

" Let me tell you something about the "perception of racism" and the "victim mentality". I am whiter than your pillow cases and on some days, there are things that happen to me, and if I were black, I'd could easily yell "racism". If you take any random child and tell them that the reason for their misfortunes are because there is a conspiracy to make them fail, guess how they are going to view the world? If you want results, then change the process. "

What a waste of time for the Reps of LA. Just have a look at the comments posted by people in other states and see why this state is a joke.....But lets not forget, there is cake in the back!! "

It's truly remarkable to think that our legislators are so hip with the times. If they keep this up, they might take over CSPAN or maybe even the Comedy Channel. This could be huge! "

I do agree that no one should perform there but since he did obviously at someone's request, why is it such a problem? At least he was not sagging or other things that are looked down on. He was neat and clean cut. Not trying to play a race card, just staing the obvious. "
