Jan P. Morel Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia, for Jan P. Morel Sr., 73, who died on Wednes-day, June 24, 2009, in New Iberia.

Entomb-ment will follow in the Beau Pre Mausoleum in Jeanerette. Mr. Jonathan McNair will officiate.

Born on Aug. 21, 1935, in New Iberia, Mr. Morel was a retired industrial mechanic having worked for Shell Oil for over 30 years, and was then employed by the City of New Iberia for 13 years. A member of the Living Church of God in Lafayette, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, flying and woodworking, but it was his family that meant the most to him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be missed dearly by family and friends

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Loretta H. Morel of New Iberia; sons Jan Patrick Morel Jr. and wife, Julie, of Katy, Texas, William Craig Morel Sr. and wife, Donna, of New Iberia; daughter Lisa M. Delcambre of New Iberia; brother Richard Morel and wife, Cathy, of New Iberia; grandchildren Chanlyn David, Patrick Delcambre, Kenny Dupre, Craig Morel, Jr., Jenna Morel, Jeffrey Morel, Jill Morel; great grandchildren Hannah David, Ethan David, Lindsay Delcambre, Tyler Dupre and Lily Morel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Inez Peltier Morel; a brother Ronald Morel and a nephew John Perez.

Pallbearers will be David Perez, Gerald Perez, Jeffrey Morel, Patrick Delcambre, Craig Morel Jr., and Kenny Dupre.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 1003 South Hugh Wallis Road, Suite F4, Lafayette, LA 70508.

A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 2:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd. in New Iberia. Visitation will continue Sunday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
